Title: Hard luggage in the UK?
Post by: matt_not_andrew on May 01, 2004, 02:47:57 AM
Hi there everyone.

I hope some of you out there can help me with this one.  I have a 53 plate GS in the UK (thats 2003 for our American cousins) and I was wondering what my options are for hard luggage.  At the moment all I want is a top box that can carry 2 helmets and a sports rack to fit it to.   Now I know most people would say to go the GIVI route but most of my hard earned cash is going towards my repayments for the bike so I don't really want to pay over the top prices for something that will mainly be used for storage while parked up or lugging extra kit to work.  I have considered soft luggage but I really want extra security and piece of mind that once it's fitted I don't have to be thinking about bungee cords and scratched plastics.

So what I'm after are manufacturers that make sports racks to fit my year of bike and the same for topboxes.

Oh yes, to make things trickier, should I go for an all in one system where I have to use the box with the rack or can I get a universal fitting plate for the box to put it on another rack.

Thanks in advance and sorry for being longwinded for what some would think would be a simple topic of hard luggae!!!!
(never had these problems when I had my car but then I never had so much fun either!)
