YO! What's up everyone.
After a great weekend of mud and music, I returned home to play with my little gs. Been dying to get back and wear my new Arai helmet  and put on srinath's bars. They look sweet on my 01, have to get a drill to finish installing them. I'll post some pics soon. My cam is acting crazy. Anyways, went for a little warm up ride before getting to far from home, and I'll be damned if I didn't hear some odd noise. Sounded like a rock stuck in my rear tire. Then I remembered that my rear tire doesn't have enough tread left to pick up the smallest of rocks. Stopped and looked at the tire and found a nice screw stuck in the tire. Well, I don't have any patches or plugs so I didn't want to pull it out bc it would just go flat before I get it to the dealer to get some new tires slapped on. I don't have the tools where I am located to change the tires myself. So, I did what I thought was probably the best thing to do, and just screw it on in, and trailer it to the dealer. I have seen some plugs and stuff for sale before. What's the best route here. Plus, how much is to much to have a dealer install tires? I plan to order them from an online seller.
Thanks
Adam

My local Suzuki / Yamaha dealer mounts and balances tires that I bring in (with the wheel OFF the bike) for $21.43, taxes included.
But others have mentioned prices from something like $5 per tire (they had an "in" I think) to $30+.
In the end, whatever the market (meaning YOU) will bear is not too much!
I doubt your dealer would consider repairing the tire. The risks are too great should the plug fail.
Now, there is a kind of plug which is shaped like a mushroom. The large flat part is vulcanized to the inside of the tire, so it can't pop out. But that avenue is only available if you do it yourself.
And really, why bother with a plug or patch on a bald tire!?

Here's some
info on tire patches - from another Adam!.
This is only one section of Adam Glass's fairly exhaustive page on
Motorcycle Tire Changing.
well, the lady saw the first few words of that and how it is dangerous and umm yea not going to do that. so i will be ordering some tires this week or next.
Kerry, I sent you a pm. get back with me on that please.
i work in the Tire lube express (wal mart) and we fix tire everyday....the patches we use arn't those cheap ones you stick in the tire without taking off the tire ...ours are patched from the inside and work so good i have never seen anyone come back with a leak...
if your tire is bald, just replace it but tires that have lots of tread on them can be repaired
