Title: Decal removal?
Post by: newbieone on May 02, 2004, 11:26:04 PM
Almost forgot. I started to remove the warning sticker on my tank. The one that is right above the gas cap, anyways, didn't want to come off very easily so I left it alone.  Any tips?

Slightly heat it with a fan. (Normal hairdryer is enough.) Careful around the tank, though (a full tank is better than an ampty one here.)

For final cleanup use a mild solvent (depending on the adhesives spirits or gas work well.)

My Dad removed the gas tank sticker from my first GS500E.  I left the sticker on my second one, and I was glad I did.

For one thing, the tank bag that I always used covered the sticker anyway.

For another thing, I always jot down my mileage numbers (total & trip) on the thermal paper receipt that I get from the gas pump.  I found that my ballpoint pen worked more readily when I used the sticker as a "backer" under the receipt.

Probably not the feedback you were looking for - just my 2 cents.  8)
