What's the widest tire you can put on the stock rim of a 92 gs500e that still fits (as far as bike clearance goes) with out any modification?
150/60 but it won't let you get all the way to the edge. You're probably better off with a 140/70. Do a search for tires and you'll get more info and opinions that you could imagine.

Some 150/70 tires will just fit and others are a bit too wide. One poster showed a pic of a 150/70 on the old board and he had to grind down the brake torque rod for clearance.
I prefer the !40/80 size radials on the GS500. Besides being a size available to fit our GS rim, it has just enough clearance on the bike. I have 140/80 rears on both bikes now and once you get used to them, a GS500 going by with OEM size tires looks like a smaller bike.
Here's some rather poor pics of the 140/80 AV36 on the 97 GS. If you can make it out in the 3rd pic, you can see how close it comes to the brake rod. Gotta get me one of those cameras Kerry has one of these days. :thumb:

Yes it is. I bought it off an ad posted on the forum one year ago and have basically uprgraded or replaced almost everything on the bike.
