Title: Argh! First scratch - repair necessary?
Post by: PAC on May 05, 2004, 06:39:38 AM
Argh!!! :guns: My first scratch. :x :o

Wheeling the bike out of the garage this morning for work I accidentally just grazed the wall with the tailpipe.  I now have a small, dime-sized scratch at the leading edge of the muffler, right where the polished, shiny metal cover meets the flat black of the rest of the exhaust.  Damnit.

I'm not *that* anal about things like this, but I don't want my whole muffler to rust off now ;) .  I don't know if I can buff it out, but it feels deep enough that buffing won't work.  Is there a way to repair the scratch, should I even worry about it?  Should I do anything to seal up the scuffed metal?  The metal piece almost looks like it bolts onto the muffler - can you buy replacement polished metal shields?

No I think they are spot welded to the cannister.

Call it "character".

Yur bike is doomed for the scrap yard!! Rust and oxidation will turn your bike into a rusted mangle of cheap scrap metal.  hehe
