Title: So angry!
Post by: Eklipse on May 08, 2004, 07:33:26 PM
Argh! I'm so upset! I bought an oil filter at my dealer today and they sold me the WRONG FILTER! They're not open again until tuesday and I can't get there until tuesday evening, so that means I can't ride ALL WEEKEND.

Naturally I didn't find out it was the wrong filter until I had already drained my oil and taken my filter out.

And naturally this is the first weekend this month that it hasn't rained and it's beautiful outside. ARGH!

Wallyworld or Advance auto usually has a filter for the GS in stock.  If I remember right, the Fram# is CH6000.  Most parts places can look up your filter.  Hoplefully, this will have you up and running Sunday.  If you prefer a different filter, this will get you running for now, and you can deal with your usuall supplier on Tues.

My bike is my main form of transportation.  My car has a blown cam seal(2qts of oil to work and back), and I haven't gotten around to fixing it yet(really don't need the car).  Finding out little things like this helps to keep me on 2wheels around the year.

Then I would hit Advance and Autozone in the morning(if you have them).  If you have to ride, you could put the old filter back in(not my normal rec.) and use it untill you get another.

Good Luck

If the old filter was not damaged when you took it out, just put it back in.  You can leave it in until the next oil change.  It's not the end of the world.  If you don't want to do that just change it when you get a chance.
On my V-Strom 650 they say to change the filter every 3rd oil change.
