Title: 20W-50 oil ok?
Post by: bmagnant on May 10, 2004, 07:18:19 AM
I was wondering if this weight would hurt my GS.  The reason i wanna use it is because my father use to race a dirt track car and has a ton of it laying around from a sponsor.  It would be free...if there is no side effects.
Thanks
Bob

Depends on your weather conditions. If you live in AZ it might actually be better.

There are engine tolerances to consider. Journals and oil gallerys that have to flow at all temps. The ENGINEERS that designed the bike didn't make those passages with thicker oils in mide, but the ones they designed the engine to run with.

I think you'd do better to try to swap out you oil for some cash, maybe someone with a deisel?
