Title: Looser clutch handle?
Post by: Ringo on May 10, 2004, 12:19:54 PM
I'm tired of getting a sore left hand after riding my GS because the clutch handle is so hard to pull, so I wonder if there is any way to make the clutch handle looser.

I'd also like to know how to clean rusty tools. Seems like the previous owner of my GS never used the tools found below the seat, so they are all rusty, but still useful.

soak the tools in "the works RLC" soak a brillo pad along with them let them soak and then with rubber gloves use the brillo pad to get the stubborn rust off, after cleaning the tools with RLC dry them with paper towls make sure they are all comepletely dry then spray some wd 40 on a towl/rag and wipe the tools down with a light coating of wd 40. waaalahh that recessitate your tools and bring them back to life!!

Clean the inside of the toolbag, too. The rust dust gets your newly cleaned tools dirty with rust...dust. And rust begets more rust.

Was the inside of the toolbag wet or moist? If so, it's not getting enough airflow to keep dry and rust free. Stuff a sock or a paper towel in there with the tools and maybe wrap the outside with a sock, too. Coton breathes and will allow a little airflow.

look for a dirtbike clutch lever...i think it's called an Easy Clutch (lever)...variable pull ratio.

You know, several of the tools in my bag were rusty when I bought it. I got the 2002 bike when it was only 6 months old.  I'm guessing that Suzuki had a bunch of these made back in about 1990 and are still passing them out.  I'll bet my rusty tools were that way about 1995.
