Title: Foam Filter and restrictor questions
Post by: klimber on May 11, 2004, 04:41:15 PM
alright, when i received my foam filter some time back i lubbed it up and installed , however while oiling it the restrictor (throat thing) fell off so i thought what the hell don't even bother

however, the other day i saw the restrictor on the shelf and though what the hell, so i popped it back into its indexing on the filter

it appears that the bike feels a tad smoother running all around, could be the weather but geez .. has been two days, thinkin....i dunno

was curious, any ideas on this ?

Has your bike been rejetted at all?  If not, then restricting the extra airflow might be just what you needed to do.  BTW, what brand is the oil filter?  My UNI foam filter didn't come with a restrictor, and my K&N isn't foam-based, so I'm curious....

If you replace the factory paper filter with a foam filter, do you have to rejet or muck with the settings? Just curious.

I have a UNI foam filter, haven't had any problems with it (doesn't seem to need a restrictor), and the K&N filter has a retrictor that can be put in to make it work w/out rejetting.
