I'm new here and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how or where I could get side panels to cover my engine on my bike.
there called fairings, for the one you want that covers your engine and works also as a windshield costs aeound 600 bucks,,, if ur new to riding,,, dont get one just yet! i promise u tht u will drop ur bike and crack it... wait till a couple months of riding
you cn buy a 1/4 fairing dosent cover enigne though
I'm not new to riding i'm just new to this site, i've had my bike for 2 years and had it laid over once within the first two months but now i'm very experienced on it and ready to up grade, do you know where I can get the fairings that cover the engine and all?
i watch ebay a lot for parts i want for my GS, but i don't recall ever seeing a full fairing...
http://www.whaccessories.com/GS500Accessories.htm
has one for $750.
OK I have somehting that you might like, however I might not have all the brackets for them. I might be missing 1 bracket, a basic 1 inch square tubing with 2 nuts in each end. I also have someone that has dibs. Mine is the spec 2 fairing from lockhart phillips. Its painted silver, blue and yellow to match the tank and body work which is also silver blue and yellow. Its quite thick fiberglass and pretty strong. I"ll send you pics and details.
Cool.

I've got the bracket off my bike, but I can't offer it to you, as it's promised to the previous owner who'll be selling his fairing.
I can, however, post a picture with a ruler next to it if you'd like to have it fabricated locally (shouldn't be hard). Let me know.
Alternatively, I can forward your contact info to the guy, and he can contact you if he wants to sell it (and the fairing!) to ya. :thumb:
Thanks alot guys that should help out alot, if you have any more web sites or personals sales for the fairings keep me contacted. And also seshadri_srinath go ahead and email those pics at my address. nick_goebel@hotmail.com

OK simple question... may not even need a picture, there is that headlight bracket thingy, the Threaded rod bent into a U and the half pipe and the square bracket all welded into 1 unit, ok I have that and its complete, there is 1 ~12 inch long square tubing piece with 2 aluminum strap like things at each end and 2 lips in the middle, and there is... is there another like that or that is the only 1. There are some additional aluminum flat pieces etc and I have those.
That's it. If the thing has 1 square tubing thing only... I am golden, I have all the hardware. If not... OK I need a picutre.
Cool.

That's a simple question?
The bracket to which I refer is a piece of square steel (maybe 12 inches?) that has two tabs perpendicular to the length of steel. This bracket mounts about midway down the front of the bike's frame, and is held by the bolt which also holds the engine to the frame. At both ends there are female threads, so I presume the lower portion of the fairing bolts into it.
Kind of like: __|________|__
I don't know much else about it, other than that the bike used to have a fairing, and both the previous owner and myself preferred the bike nekkid. I've not seen the fairing on the bike, but I also didn't see any reason this bracket would be on the bike other than the previous fairing, so I took it off.
I'd be happy to take a picture and post tonight.
OK That picture and the threads etc totally match. The only thing is... is there 1 of those or 2... See no pic needed.
Cool.
