hello, i am new to gstwin.com and this is my first post! :)
I am finishing my MSF class by the end of this week and going to purchase a GS500F. My problem is.. i am new to the city of San Francisco and i dont have any friends that rides in the bay area. I was reading srinath's post regarding dealership reputation and it seems like you know alot more than i do, so i just wonder if srinath or anyone that lives in SF/bay area will be able to recommand any dealership in the bay area/san francisco that is honest, has a good reputation for its mechanic and wont rip a beginner biker/poor college student off.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. I talk to Golden Gate cycle today, and their sales representative sounds nice enough.. but we all know about sales..
check out the bay area riders forum, they have a very nice website dedicated the the oakland, sanfran, bay area, valley riders. they know all the kewl bay area routes and dealers.
Scratch has recomended some places up there before. It might be worth a search.
thank you b1k3r 3li+3, looking at the site now and found all the info i need. Thanks a bunch
Find a nice used GS! Get it checked out. Even with what you will have to do to fix the bike you might save over the dealer price! Craig's list is great.
Here are some from the SF Bay area, the prices except for the new one, don't seem reasonable, talk them down to about 1,600 if the bikes are mint.

Welcome!
For reference I picked up a 92 GS from Craigslist for a whopping $900 down in Jackson, CA...and its is was in good shape. It is much better now I've put some time effort into it.
Great resource for bikes!
Again Welcome, and let us know when you are up and running...we are in the infant stages of getting a Bay Area ride out together, love to have you along.
hehe thanks.. i am taking my first MSF ridding course tomorrow, so very excited as of now
i would buy from craiglist if i have more knowledge toward bikes, but i dont, and i also dont know any trustworthy mechanic. Thats why i am looking more toward buying new bikes (even thou i know i will drop it one day :( ) Right now i am looking toward to buy the GS500F from Redwood city Honda/Suzuki due to the high praise from the bayarearider.forum
bummer there isnt any good suzuki dealership inside the city :dunno:
Uh, pokey, you here in the Bay?
My first MSF riding day is tomorrow, too, at the Newark Pavilion - the afternoon (12 to 6) session
