Hey guys/gals,
Just wondering what you all get around in when you are not riding the GS? Do you ride another bike? Do you have any other fun toys? Do you drive a daily commuter?
I myself am fortunate enough to have a small selection:
'90 Honda Accord DX- Daily commuter
'96 Nissan Maxima GSE- Sitting at home collecting dust
'75 Chevy C-10- Just a fun truck to have, but sitting at home collecting dust as well
Post up!
Thanks,
Adam
P.S.
I am not posting this to compare or brag, or anything like that, I was just wondering. :thumb:
:)
The only thing I have is a 1997 GS500 ... and because I recently thrashed it I "share" me mums 2002 Nissan Sentra till I can get the bike fixed ...
PS And remember being broke and in skool sux but its gotta be done ... :dunno:
I have my '97 gs
a '97 honda accord
and a 1980 Buick Regal Ltd.
woo. bills + college suck
2001 GS500 (hardly ever use it these days.. never got time to ride).
2000 Ford Focus LX Sedan - when im going somewhere and need comfort.
Some cheap mountain bicycle from Target.. my daily ride to school.
2000 TL1000R
1991 GS500
1997 Honda XR400R
2002 Toyota Tacoma 4WD TRD extra-cab
1996 Cannondale SuperV (custom built mountain bike)
At Home:
92 GS500
99 Pontiac Grand Am
97 Honda Civic (the G'Friend's-but I do drive it on occasion)
At Work (currently):
99 Chevy Lumina
03 Chevy Trailblazer
04 Chevy Impala
- All 3 are Police K9 units...we all hate the Lumina (too small and slow) and the Trailblazer is second (the K9 cage makes for a tight fit)...but I'm all about the Impala.

My friend has a custom built cannondale something or other. that thing is sweet.... a bit too hardcore for me
which reminds me, i left out my 04 trek 820 mtn bike. just something fun to ride on occasion :thumb: and for exercise
Um, yes--a bike. A bicycle bike.
It's a mix of parts left over from other rides, including bits from one which joined me, for about 100 feet, for a tour of the road underneath a semi truck. There is something poetic about continuing to ride at least a part of that bike.
I prefer it to cars because it's cheap to run, fun, and helps make a difference in this world. And for those days where I want to burn dinosaur, the GS ain't bad either. :thumb:
That said, and I'm not judging you guys, but am sincerely curious: Why do y'all have so many motor vehicles?
car
97 acura integra
bicycles
Eddie merckx steel motorola rep (road)
bianchi (old, oconverted to fixed single speed road bike)
trek hardtail/hardfork (mountain)
guerciotti (track)
easton custom race bike (road)
motorcycle
sold my 2001 gs500
if all goes as planned tomorrow I will be new owner of cbr600rr
94 Jeep Cherokee
97 GS500E
With the addition of that bike a few weeks ago, my life is pretty much complete. Although I'm tempted to pick up one of those Corbin seats and those funky handlebar risers that GSJack has.
Smooth Dave
'99 Toyota Tacoma (to carry the bike)
And of course... '93 GS500
We just traded the old 94 Century with 150k+ miles on it for a new 04 Elantra. It seems kinda lika a 4 wheel GS500. And yes, we do use up cars same as I do bikes before moving on. :thumb:

I have a '97 Subaru Legacy GT, but now I'm starting to think about getting a truck to carry the bike, and for moving around all the time since I'm still a college student. Also It would be nice to have something to do some offroading with. The Tacoma is at the top of my list I think because I've seen way too many american cars and trucks sitting in the shop more than they are on the road. (ie. my friend who just got his second auto trans for his 97 Blazer in under 2 years, among other problems)
I guess now that I have a bike a car just isn't as fun, unless I had the money for something with some power(and the associated insurance). I will miss the better gas milage and more comfortable ride though.

My mountain bike - i have for fun and exercise. i live too far away from anywhere to ride it for transportation (and I'm lazy)
My accord - i have because I can't sell it. It's a good, reliable car, which is good for me when my buick has problems. like right now, she needs an alternator. rah.
But, right now at the same time, the accord has a flat. so somethins not gettin fixed for a while
the accord, I'm still in a loan. the buicks paid for.
I usually drive the accord to school (40 min drive one way), and the buick to work at night. now that i have the gs, i'll probably start riding it more to save gas. :thumb:
that's why i have so many cars, anyway

trek hardtail/hardfork (mountain)

easton custom race bike (road)...
That's a nice eclectic mix, and I'm happy to see all that steel included in it.
My mounts are all road-oriented:
'98 Cannondale T700 touring/commuter
'91 Trek 1200 epoxied aluminum with CF fork and Ultegra components
'83 Trek 720 tourer (full Reynolds 531) with half-step and granny gearing
'83 Trek 600 (mostly 531), with upgraded components. Not fast, but good for just about any road riding. Thinking of a SS freewheel conversion.
2002 gs currently primary transportation
87 Izusu Trooper2 it runs when it wants to which is of course is never when I want to drive it. I traded my 93 tercel straight across for it.
back home:
80 dodge tradesman 300 I need to finish the motor rebuild if I ever get to go home. I bought it to pull my datsun
78 Datsun B210 SCCA pro rally car, race only, have you ever seen a 25 year old rice rocket with 30 year old tecknology stomp the shaZam! out of a brand new rustang with nos, it's hillarious.

I had the Lower Merion COunty's K-9 car after they were done with it. It was a '90 crown vic with the police package. It had these HUGE dog decals and K9 all over it. I hated to paint it but had to, to complete the decommision. The back was pretty funky for awhile. I loved the car though. Pretty fast , very menacing on the highway, people just got out of my way.
It got like 7 mpg.
My 1991 GS...
2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS (fun auto-x/track car)
1992 Subaru Loyale Turbo <---22lbs of boost :nana:
1948 Wyllis-Overland Jeep Truck <---Goes anywhere

i own my gs500 and my WRX STI!!!!!!!
My stable includes:

2002 Honda Civic - ride to work
2003 Dodge Caravan - impressing the chicks (mainly my wife and daughter)
2000 GS 500 -commuting & fun
1989 Katana 750 - under construction
Rob
1996 jeep grand cherokee
1993 nissan hardbody pickup
Thinking about reducing my vehicle collection to one with 4 wheels and one with 2. Buy a new jeep and a trailor for towing the bike and hauling wood, dirt, multch, etc..
Matt
What else do I have...
1998 Subaru Forester :) Subies are the best! :thumb:
1993 Toyota pickup. The only option on it is a sliding rear window, which means no power steering, no clock, only am/fm radio... But everyone in my family loves having it around!
Mongoose Zero-G3 DS mountain bike
Schwinn Letour from umm... 1990 or so. I don't ride it anymore, since it's downright dangerous to ride a touring bike on the roads here! Oh well... it served me pretty well.
im driving a 92 chrysler le baron but soon to rid myself of, and buy a 71 or 72 nova  and of course my 98 gs500e
does anyone know anyone selling a 71 or 72 in az?
98' Tacoma 4x2 for hauling the bike nd boat
197? 12ft aluminum v hull 5 hp outboard, heh watch it fly!
95' Merc Cougar XR7 v-8 guzzles gas but sure is fun
93' GS500
Trying to build a race car, well have been tryin for a while. I'm curious if the lady next door will sell this 87-90 BMW 325Is its been sitting for 2 years, could make a fun project ;)

i'm broke.....i got NO car and NO insurance (for now) on my '92 GS
so i ride in my moms '92 escort POS, but hey, at least it runs
1978 Datsun 260Z with a 2.8 FI engine. Does the job - or at least it did until I got the bike. Nice to not be bored while in a car though. And the inline siz is sooooo smooth.
2003 Clk320
2002 Audi A4
1997 GS500

OK 4 eliminators... 2 1000's and 2 900's, a KZ440 and a GS, a 97 F150 and not with me yet a 69 VW convt and a GSXR 7/11 which are due to arrive in a few months from the west coast. Wowee... so easy to say it. I only have 3 bikes, 4 eli's a KZ and a GS.
Cool.
Srinath.
This is a fun thread.
I have a 2001 Ford Ranger 4wd extended cab
Wife has 2001 exploder awd
2001 GS
Specialized Rockhopper mtn bike
2 kayaks and a canoe (That I love almost as much as the GS :thumb: )
Honda pushmower
1990 GS500 - I think this one's pretty obvious.
1999 Chevy Blazer ZR2 - sitting because it's a gas guzzler!
2004 Saturn Ion (wife's car) - this is our commuter. Good mileage, good get-up-and-go.
:thumb:
Aside from the '96 GS, we've got an '03 Saab 9-5 Aero, an '00 Civic EX coupe, and a '92 Saturn SC. Also a Giant Rainier, an '02 I think. The Giant's not getting the kind of mileage it did before I bought the GS though!
jeff
2003 Dodge Neon SE and 2002 Hyundai Accent. They're not much fun to drive, but they're fairly new and in good running condition.
I have a 2002 Saturn SL2. It's nothing flashy, but she has been a reliable vehicle so far. I got her pretty cheap (she had 46k when I bought her. If you put that many miles on a car in a year, then they're highway miles) I drive her most of the time but now that I have my GS, I hope to be driving that more than my car.
91 GS
96 honda civic
2003 18hp Craftsman ride on lawn mower (lol)
Looking to upgrade my cage. The civic has 170K- looking at a new F150.
I was surprised to see the number of high end bicycles listed by various posters. Is there something about GS riders and bicycling or are the pedal bikes gathering dust?
Here's my collection (excluding some wheeled junk):
'91 Ford Escort (the "appliance automobile" aka "Rusty")
'82 Mazda RX7 (the toy car, now gathering dust because the motorcycles are more fun)
'90 GS500E (my first bike purchased in '99)
'96 Ninja 250 (purchased while waiting for parts to fix the GS, but a fun bike in its own right)
'80? Miyata 610 (15 speed road touring bicycle with a lot of miles on it)
'02 Trek 2200 (27 speed road bicycle, I was looking around at mountain bikes before concluding, "Hey there's a road in front of my house, there's a road most anywhere I want to go, why do I need a mountain bike . . . )
'03 Dahon Piccolo (16 inch folding 3-speed bicycle)
The Trek was my ride to work this morning.
