Just curious about others on the board in my age group, what do you pay in insurance for your bike? I pay $14.97 a month for full coverage on the GS, and I actually checked insurance today on a Kawasaki ZX10R and I was shocked. $37.00 a month for full coverage. My driving record is clean, and I am 32, married, and have had the same agent since I was 16. I figured it would be much higher. By the way, I am not buying a ZX10R, I was just thinking of a bike that might cost the highest to cover.
wow.. that's an awesome rate.
I'm 28 with a clean record and with a 500 deductable, mine was 330/year for comp or 1000/year for collision on a 2001 R6.
wow i wish that's what i was paying !
i am 22 (23 in august) and pay 120 a month for coverage on the GS here in Victoria BC Canada. On the other hand, I used to live in toronto, where i never had a bike, but last year around this time I looked into getting an R6 (i know i know, not a good first bike) well anyways, the cheapest insurance I could get on it at the time would have been 4500/year. Very glad I got the GS though. At the time i was looking at the R6 last year, it was me and a friend looking at getting one each, i ended up getting nothing, but he got recommended the GS500 by the sales rep. So he bought it, and put 300 km's on it, then moved to florida for school and left the GS in Toronto (don't ask me why !!!) and I moved out here to Victoria. Then i called him up and told him to sell it to me as it was just sitting in storage. So he did, and my mom threw it in the back of a minivan and drove it out west here for me ! Thanks mom ! And now i can't get off it !
AAA (roadside service isnt the only thing they do) insurance cost me $350/yr on the gs500 and an additional $110/yr for the cbr600rr. Its all based on engine size primarily with them so I went from 487 to 599.
I asked my agent if they were correct about it because I thought it was too good to be true. Of course, once they actually get past the quote and get the underwriters looking closer at what they are covering, they may say more. I noticed a decrease in my insurance after 25, but once I got married (at 31) it went down a bunch. Those of you in your early and mid 20s hang in there, it will go down if you keep your record clean.
I am with AAA like Pablo. I have full coverage, comprehensive and collision. I think the premium for my 02 CBR 600 F4i is about $650 or so per year. I have the GS500 on this policy and it comes to about $200 per year with just liability and uninsured motorist coverage.
ASLAM.
I got quoted $128 for liability only from progressive.
