Title: Reflector
Post by: MstrsLilBrat on May 20, 2004, 01:23:49 PM
There are front/rear side reflectors on the most of bikes.

Is it really effective? I guess it is law to have these... I am just wondering actually people see the reflectors on the side??

One of reflectors are broke, so I am thinking to take off all my reflectors.

It might be a law to have reflectors, check your local laws.

As for effectiveness, I'd say that depends. If your bike, jacket, and helmet are all dark (like me) then I'd keep the reflectors on, just so its easier to see you. But If you have, say an orange or white bike, and a reflective jacket/helmet the reflectors might not be necessary.

I'd say it depends on how much you ride at night.  I very seldom ride at night, as I live in white-tail deer country, so I took mine off.

I, too, have lost one of my reflectors (I still have the left one). What I did was use some white reflective tape around the top of the fork slider (3/4" x 4"). I also afixed some to the front rim (3/8" x 1 1/2", lined 'em up with the spokes).
