would the new fairing on the '04 GS work on a '00?
i've looked into it and the fairing should be easily mounted (just bolts right on)
but my concern is with HEAT... as everyone knows the GS is air cooled and i wanna know if the fairing would reduce the engine cooling on my bike to the point where it would cause any engine damage.
The way I understand it is that the 2004 is the exact same bike as the others, just with a fairing up front.
I have the new model and I can tell you it's the same engine and body for sure. I don't know about how easy it would go on though.
I saw the fairing up close for the first time yesterday, and it is one ugly bastard. Too much cheap looking plastic on the backside.
It should be an easy install if you want an ugly bike though...

This is why they put an oil cooler on the GSF. It sounds like you could get ahold of one of these and it would bolt right up to your engine. I know people have already asked about bolting on the '04 fairing, you may want to search do a search for similar topics, I'm just feeling too lazy to do it right now. Er, I'm not lazy, i'm just a master of efficiency
I have a TCP full fairing on my 2000 GS and so far I haven't noticed any heat problem on it. The front air vent seems to be big enough to cool the engine, unless you get stuck on traffic for long time I see no problem with the fairing, but then even a non-faired bike would suffer for heat.
Hey don't hate on my beautiful fairings. :o
