Title: ball park configuration
Post by: Jace009 on May 23, 2004, 01:57:07 PM
Hey guys..at the moment I just installed 40pilots and 125 mains on my stock GS...HOLLY COW did the 125's wake her up!...my question is in the low end...I didn't open the air mixture up 3turns when I had the carbs out....I adjusted the mixture so that at idle below 1,200 rpm and give it a blip and what not....I got it right the engine dosn't sputter and the rpm's come back down nicely.....I've been running the bike and I checked the plugs to see if maybe my mixture was "off"...their ok...slightly grey on the tip and black on the outside...HOWEVER MY problem is that when I go to start up the bike and let it sit for a minute or two then take it down to 1/2choke and the engine breaks down and the rpms dip into the 100's...it just bairley stays alive. There seems to be a fVERY ine line between 1/2 choke and full choke...is the  mixture a little lean?

it's more of a headache problem than something major and I'm not sure what to do...

Jason

PS, 125-mains, 40-pilots, 1 washer on each needle
Title: 3mins...

OK 1 minute... isn't that asking a bit much... I try for a 3 min choke... then it comes off... the whole 1/2 choke bit... ok I used to do it but I shoot for a 3 min driveoff time... less than that... oil doesn't get even warm and get to all the critical parts... Set air screws to 3 if you like and see what it does.
Cool.
