I need to keep it cheap this time around, I know i'm sacrificing some quality, but does anyone have an opinion on kenda and maxxis tires? I'm looking at the maxxis M6102/M6103 or the kenda K671.
Srinath...really CHEAP bastid....would probably recommend the Kenda....ROCK hard and lots of miles....traction?????

Bro..IMHO, tires are about the last place to save a buck. Over the life of the tire, the small extra expense will be long forgotten, but the tire will be with you every day.
PS-you probably know, the new GS500F's have BT45's stock.
I was looking at getting a Chein Shien(sp) to replace the square tire on the GS I just picked up, but the shop I was dealing with found me a tire that with shipping and install(I bring the whole bike) was around $90.00. This is a 140/70/17 that has a soft side compound and hard center compound on the tread. Almost perfect for my 300+mile trips for work, and my spare time playing.
If you need the brand, let me know, and I'll get it for you.

I have a brand new set of the M6102/M6013 tires in my garage awaiting installation. I'll post my riding impressions when I get them installed.
For low cost tires - those are just fine... not suire what you would be paying total for a set, but you may want to consider the Avon Am51/52 tires... they are fairly cheap (about $120 for the set through www.mawonline.com) and Avons have a history of being good tires. They are meant for smaller commuter bikes (like the GS) and are pretty new on the market - which may explain the low cost... plus they are supposed to be a best of both worlds kinda of tire with mileage and grip in mind...

well, I found out today that I get a decent discount thru work on bridgestone tires, (ends up being a little less than the best price I found on the internet) and I get free shipping (2nd day) so I went with the bt45 tires... It was still a little bit higher than the other two brands I mentioned, but it wasn't too bad... I really wanted a name brand I trust anyway, I'm just being cheap as usual...lol Thanks for the input guys!
