Title: OK 351...
Post by: The Buddha on May 24, 2004, 09:54:18 AM
OK I'll give you $351...
Never mind... send me your crabs... I'll fix them, Usually free but if crap is broken and I have to buy stuff.. ok I'll charge you for that. I can rejet it too, 40' 125 amd 1-2 washers for a stock bike or 150's for a K&N and exhaust. For all that I'll charge you for parts and labor.
Forks... ok I leave that up to someone else... but seals being bad ins't more than a saturday's work for anyone. And at 120 I know that's what the guy was going to do.
Cool.
Srinath.

seals are 8$, dust boots i dont know,  fork oil is about 5$ a quart.  i will change them for 50$ labor, you pay shipping to and from +parts,  i have the Airtools that make the job so much easyer. figure intotal under 100$   i understand the forks fall in the 18lb range and its about 20$ or so for shipping. prepay return shipping whenyou ship them out to me. IF you choose such.

Thanks for the link!  I have a question though.

Starting from the GS Chassis Parts page, the first two fork seal entries (if you click on them) say that they fit GS500s.  But if you add them to your shopping cart, the first one looks like this27-1014  FORK SEALS - 37mm x 49mm x 8/10mm[/list:u]and the second one looks like this:27-1012  FORK SEALS - 37mm x 49mm x 8/9.5mm[/list:u]Surely BOTH sets of dimensions can't be ideal ... unless the seals are made of different materials or something?

Edit: Typo! I wrote "leak seal" instead of "fork seal".  Freudian slip, maybe?
Title: 8mm
Post by: The Buddha on May 24, 2004, 01:03:03 PM
They are both 37 id, 49 OD and 8 width. That other 10mm No Idea what that is... maybe the entire thickness not the seal face to seal face thickness. Remember these are industrial products. The seal is a double lip spring encased oil seal. No one makes motorcycle stuff, its all generic stuff packaged by some enterprising people as bike parts. OK OK that's a little simplistic... but mostly true.
Cool.
