Title: Carb Question
Post by: Rollin668 on May 25, 2004, 07:53:01 PM
At a quarter throttle opening I get a bad stumbling.  I really suffer with it during lane splitting in rush hour traffic.   I also get a pretty load backfire/rumble on when I let off the throttle.

Would this be a lean mix and should I just screw the pilot screw (underneath the carb) out???

Thanks.

Again, I'm not an expert but I had that stumbling problem too when my left carb was overflowing. You might want to check float heights and change the needle valve seats' O-rings just in case.

On the other hand, that rumbling might indicate a lean condition...

Maybe I should just shut up.

I had it too. Real bad until i hit 4k.  i checked my float heights and they were high, Like 1/2 inch using the U tube method..  I reset them according to the Haynes manual using a ruler and it was a pain inthe ass .  The rane is between 13.6 and 15 mm with the tang just touching the float needle.  I set mine both at 14mm.  No more stumbles.

Title: 1/4 throttle...

1/4 throttle is float... set them to the top of the bowl. Alr screw will ruin you idle/startup long before it touches the 1/4 throttle range.
Cool.
