which ones? A, B, C, D, E, F, G, or H?

A will not fit properly, or I should say they will but they hit the clocks and end up a little too sloped downward for comfort. some on this board have those installed and they were pleased.

They all are missing the hole for the nub on the inside of the switchgear so you'll either have to dremel the nub off or drill the bars. Most choose to dremel the nub.

The drag bars are cool but they leave your wrists in a strange position since your hands are facing so far forward instead of sweeping back at an angle (make sense-stick your hands out like you're grabbing the bars and then turn your wrists inward).

Look cool though.

Title: A...
Post by: The Buddha on May 26, 2004, 12:54:05 PM
A is clubman's... and it has a 5 inch drop ... no rise a drop, of course use it up side down its a rise... but the 5 inch drop is too agressive and painful and a 5 inch rise is un godly. Of course it hits the frame at steering lock and other stuff... 1 inch drop or rise is all that will work on a GS. Anylower you start getting more uncomfy, anything less OK that's a Srinath bar if its 0 rise/drop. The drag style... D I think... will be OK for fit and will be a bit better than stock, but its the wrong angle for comfort.
Cool.
Srinath.

they're for the sv650. they're not cheap and they are worth it IMO -great build quality and great customer service.

Srinath is knocking them off for $40. People seem happy with them. Check them out.

I have those bars on my GS.  I had to buy 1 inch risers to get them to fit correctly on the bike.  I guess that would make it a 4 inch drop and it brings your hands forward a little.  If you adjust them correctly they won't hit your tank and once you get used to the riding position it is MONEY!!!  I'll take some pics and try to post them over the coming weekend if anyone's interested.

Later,

John L.

See the old message thread $8. Bar Risers - How To for one (cool!) idea.  richard has done this to his bike, too.

Yeah, and then you still have to buy the longer bolts!

richard got lucky -- he got my old "caps" when I installed my GenMar risers.  Talk about not cheap!  :o

seshadri_srinath are your bars the same style as the stock?
Mine are a little rusted and chipped and I am looking for the same dimensions as the stock ones.
Title: Not even close...
Post by: The Buddha on May 28, 2004, 09:43:39 AM
Evil Scooby - Stock... nope... Not even close... Mine feel like clip on's but bolt into a stock 90+ top triple. The stock one is ~$20 or less in chrome.... My material alone is over $12 when I bought it last... likely to be more now. No reason you want mine... cos it will be over $30 if I were to even make them and will be ugly steel or some cheap ass paint which will just about keep it from rusting in transit. The only reason you want these is... well you want the position, want the thicker material and aren't racing it ... cos face it they are heavy...
Kerry - Yea I dont want people to pester me till I make them, which is next week, but once I make them I want all of them sold ASAP. This is just warming up the market... OK OK I have no Idea what I am doing.
Happy.
Brandon - Nope. I have seen clubmans, and drag bars... hell I have a couple of drag bars that were left in my house by Gino and another GS I bought few years ago.... I started making bars only cos there was no alternative. I am the cheapest SOB out there, and if I decided to pay over $32 (now more like $35 with steel shooting up in $$$) for a bar... there is a reason. OK BTW the ebayers seen to be paying big $$$ for a stock GS bar... you may be able to sell the bars there for a good profit.
Cool.
Srinath.
