Any one know how much oil the GS should eat per 1000 miles fast riding ?

max about 1/2qt.. but it really depends.. on your mileage and stuff..
mine eats 1/4qt every 1000 miles.
Mine will use over 2 quarts, maybe more, somehow 20W50 or 10W40 doesn't make any diff.
Cool.

Yeah I probably put in 1/4qt awhile back but it had only been about 500mi. Though I wonder if it makes it better or worse that I only ride this GS500 1 to 2 times a week.

:? I thought I had the only one that doesn't use oil.
well i have a theroy it's how ur GS was broken in and i like the new run it hard and fast to get rid of burning oil so i'm going to get some new piston rings and hone the bore's and i'll tell u lot when i have done it and how i think it's gone.
Mine eats none.
Is something wrong??
Even a new engine recently run-in and as tight as <insert your own favourite similie here> will use some oil at high speed. The oil will mist in the crankcase and be drawn through the crankcase breather into the air box and then burnt by the motor.
At low speed this effect is negligible, and puttering around town it shouldn't burn any if the motor has been assembled with the proper tolerances.
mine dosent eat ne eighter
mine started marking her teritory last week anyone else?
