i THINK my forks are twisted...which probably is...because the steering lock doesn't work...and the wheel turn more to the right then left...
(i fell on my right side with handlebars turned right)
how do i straighten it...
does the top clamp look crooked when you're riding it? there's a chance you might've just bent the bars, because that happened to mine, that wouldn't explain the steering lock, but still,
i think there are people who can straighten fork tubes, but you'd have to look into that, i think the forks on my triumph are bent, so someday if i come across a cheap slider tube i'd probably buy it, but other than that, i don't notice aside from the fact that when i ride the top clamp looks like it's turned a little, if you can't find anyone to straighten it, you might just have to buy a new fork slider tube and swap it, not that hard to do, the hardest part is finding the fork tube
Are they maybe just twisted in the clamps? Loosen the pinch bolts and the lower brace and see if you can get the front end straightened out...
Sometimes the clamps just get misaligned ( if you're lucky) when you dump it.
will i need a torque wrench to put them back in?...
i don't wanna take it apart and not be able to put it back in...
is it more likely to be the top or the bottom clamp that's misaligned?
Only loosen the the bottom clamp unless you have the front of the bike supported. Otherwise the tubes will extend above the upper triple clamp when it is loosened. Yes a torque wrench is needed to properly tighten the bolts.
after loosening the bottle clamps...how do i straighten them out?...just tug on it?...
Grab the front wheel and while someone is holding the handlebars, move the wheel side-to-side to re-align the tubes. It may help to remove the fork brace.
