I got the new Maxxis Promaxx tires on last night. I did not have the dealer balance them. I wanted to see if it was necessary. I took it up to an indicated 100mph and it was more stable than with the old tires, no vibration at any speed. Both cornering and straight line stability are improved over the original Exedras. I wouldn't expect them to perform as well as BT45s but for $113 for both, I'd recommend them. :thumb:
well, too late for me, as i put the bt45's on last month, but nice to know for the future... (1000 miles in 3 weeks, tires will an ongoing venture for me)
Hit Ortega Highway for the first time this morning on the new GS with the Michelin H2 Pilot Race tires, 110/150. No problems with fitting. Interesting experience. I think I know what people mean when they say you hit a spot of lean angle where the bike wants to fall in; it's like it will drop easily to a certain point, but then to go further requires a significant input, which is spooky because you're not really sure how much further it's gonna drop. But it wasn't a real problem; plenty of lean angle available, and the tires just give STUPID amounts of grip. Was able to hang with friends on much 'faster' machinery.
strips of rubber glued to the front rim would be better then the original Exedras :thumb:
