The MD motorcycle operator's guide says that a bike must have "2 unmodified fenders" in order to take the test on it. Does anybody know if the chopped rear fender will DQ me if I go to take the test with it?
I did my test with the fender chopped....they don't know enough about motorcycles to be able to tell it's 'modified'....so no worries. :thumb:
thanks, that's one less thing I need to worry about.
not thinking they'd check anyway, but i've seen some people just take a hacksaw and chop half their fender, and leave it that way, they didn't sand it down or nothing, so if anything, i'd say just atleast make sure it's cut nice and clean looking, cause yeah, otherwise i don't think they'd have a clue
Take the MSF, pass it, and you won't have to take the driving portion of your motorcycle license test :dunno:
No worries about getting DQ'ed or sent to an inspector if your state has them. CA only has smog checks and no inspectors. The internet was my first introduction to failed inspections :)
How bad did you chop the fender? is it gone or is half of it still there?
Do as TT said if it's halfway...make it look as factory as possible...
I took my test well...12 + years ago ..(also in MD) but I was on the DMV's bike....
raylarrabee when is your test anyway?
I still need to schedule my riding test and I want to chop my fender too but I'm gonna wait for the test. I'm in college park, MD maybe we can meet up there to take the test or you can go ahead and see if they DQ you, if they do I can let you borrow my fender. YOu pass the test--switch back fenders, problem solved :thumb: .
probably won't schedule my test for at least a few weeks. I'm going to try to walk on to an MSF course around here first--seems like he safer way to learn and the best way to get licensed.
anybody have any suggestions for a MD location where I should try to walk-on? Montgomery College is the closest, but I think they have the most competition for spots, too.
Ray-
I was lucky enough to take mine at Fredneck Community College. I'd heard nightmares about the list to get in the MSF class in MD, and one day for s & g's I checked FCC's roster and was in class in a month. I don't know how you can work with distance (I work near it luckily) but if you can pull it off, this one seems to be much faster to get into. Good luck
