So out of that story I got: Go 30 mph, rev the engine to 11k, and hang on for one sweet ride

All kidding aside, its good to hear you're able to sit there and type about it, if u were between the bike and hte truck it might be a lil different. Thanks for sharing your blunder, sometimes a first hand tale is enough to sink in the power any motorcycle can have.

that is some funny sh*t. Glad you still have your sense of humor about you.

Imagine if you had bought a gsxr600 and had done that...you probably would have been going much faster.

Lesson learned. Many lessons learned I think...

Do you mean engine cover/case instead of chassis?

Glad you're okay. Stunting is fine as long as its not endangering the public...although you should have been aware (by SEE method-remember in MSF?) of your surroundings...

nonono, the GS doesnt have the torque to wheelie like most other bikes do, even with sproket changes the power(of a stock gs engine) isnt there. DONT confuse this with engine momentum and droping the clutch, a honda rebel 250 will do this, i know i watched it happen and its only 20hp at best and has the torque of a yo-yo. i did the same thing you did when i first got my GS, only it came back down and i redented the tank with my Balls. No, i didnt walk well for 3 days. when wheelieing with clutch on a lowpower bike its kinda like a crapshoot on how well its going to comeup and how much power you have to find the ballence point. standing on the rear pegs about 15 mph helps as the ballast is above the rear wheel. puting a 50lb bag of concrete on rear will help too. DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!

haha, yeah watch out for that clutch, i've played with it two or three times, but i try to be nice to it, i've been trying to get my girlfriends gs up without it, i'm making progress, mostly standing on the back pegs and bouncing as i gas it, just cause she wants to do them, i know there's risk anytime you're messing with that stuff, but i'm pretty sure most of the times people loop them is when they're messing with the clutch,

i need to work on her engine though, even though yours is brand new and hers is 10 years old, i've dumped the clutch real hard, and still haven't gotten anything out of it, hoping the suspension upgrades will help it out some too, but i remember clutching up my 250 with no experience whatsoever, and now that i do know how to do them, i still can't get her 500 up :dunno:      anyone else with a 91 tried it to say if it's hard to do, or if it's just her bike?

Thanks for sharing, ollie357.   I can't say that I have any desire to attempt any wheelies. I did one by accident during the safety course I took and that scared the bejeezus out of me.

Yeah, I meant a cracked engine cover/case. I can see part of the stator through the big assed crack. I'm gonna remove the bolts and have a looksee with my handy clymer manual. If thats the only damage thats preventing engine start (gotta check the fuses too, etc) then I'll be up and running soon. Still, I'll take it down to a better trained mechanic, after I work on it, to make sure everythings still correctly aligned and all.
I really hope that was the worst crash I will ever have again, as I want to be riding for a long, long, time.

Never underestimate the power of your bike + clutch. I had a 2001 Eliminator 125 as my first motorcycle ever. It had an amazing 12 ponies and 7 lb ft. I nearly stood that thing up when i dumped the clutch. Well according to a friend I nearly stood it up. I have tried it on the GS maybe 3 0r 4 times but haven't succeded yet. I also need a new clutch for it because the one thats on it is slippin pretty bad. So maybe I'll try it when I get a new clutch. Glad you didn't hurt yourself to bad and good riddents to that salmon. I don't really like fish

so hey, we are like retarded wheelie crash dummy brothers now. we should go for a ride, crash into some shiznit and haul ass for a few beers sometime.  i'll bring the video camera.

i am just glad i got to learn the ills of a wheelie gone bad at low speed, with minimum injury, on a $1,000.00 bike. that could be a new fox tv show . . . when wheelies attack!!   it all came out just fine. painful but ok anyways.
