Title: Switching body panels
Post by: sevenbucks on June 14, 2004, 02:52:37 PM
Hi everyone,
This question may sound stupid, but it's my understanding that the GS500 hasn't really had many if any structural mods. That being said, I've seen pictures of lots of the new models on this board which have tastier side panels that those nappy old faded-to-pink ones on my red 92. Would the newer, sharper panels fit on my frame? Or even something from one of the upper bikes like a the Bandit or 600.
This very well could end up being an apples to oranges thing, my apologies if that's the case...
One other thing - I'm wondering if anyone knows of a website seller / manufacturer of belly fairings that aren't a complete ripoff (ie under $150 bucks) My future streetfighter needs some improvement in the looks department and I'm not sure if they're supposed to be so pricey.
Oh by the way, thanks for the tips, I licked 270 this weekend  :guns:

I think the panels from the 2nd-Gen bikes are slightly different. I know the seat is different, which means the body panels prolly won't match up. Also, the newer tanks are larger which probably means the newer body lines won't add up...and on and on   .

I would say keep your body panels and maybe give them a fresh paintjob :thumb:

i reccommend http://www.streetfightersbydesign.com  its and awesome website that i got a skidmarx cockpit fairing and belly pan specifically made for the gs for $250 w/ no shipping charge.  not a bad deal
you can get them in several colors and they are hand laid fibergalss however only the outsides come painted and some of the insides show when they come on.  also you get your choice of color on the windscreen.  solid colors or see through.  Real good deal if you ask me.  I got black to go on my blue gs b/c all of my other parts are balck and it looks prett sharp.  I will post pics soon.
