I'm sorry to make this its own thread but I recently posted a link to a video of me riding my gs500 in the canyons. The point of the original link posting was to show that the gs can be ridden hard in the canyons and if you can't ride it like that (or at least like that, I cant say I'm an exceptional rider) you shouldnt be feeling like you've outgrown the gs.
I cant find the post I originally put that link in (it was a dead link). I have a live link now.

Not long and has been edited to show only a bit of the riding. Me on the gs500 (Latigo canyon for any locals), on an 'off' day. This is with my suspension upgraded, stickier tires, and a desire to hang with the bandit 1200's in front (as I usually do).
I hope whoever it was I had posted this for see's this....
Excellent riding mate. Did you ever scratch the pegs? Did you find getting over the tank helps the bike? I find that I feel more confident and in tune with the bike, when I am hunched over. Is this bad form??? How much faster is the CBR?

lolololololol!!
:)
you're joking right? :P
Mr Slush, no Im not joking, Ive only ever ridden a GS500 and a Honda CB175 (Now that was a ROCKET!), and that was 20 years ago. I have no idea how much faster a CBR is! What about on time basis, say second(s) per mile?[/quote]
on the cbr I can be at triple digit speeds before the gs hits 55mph speed limit.
The cbr is real fast.
If I count to "one thousand and one" while shortshifting to 3rd I'm at 55 before I'm halfway through "one"...fast. And thats not *trying* to go fast.
Never dragged pegs but I had much smaller pegs on mine (cbr600f3? passenger pegs on front), dragged toes a bit. Looks like I was close to dragging a knee too. I was told that a week ago on the cbr-had I stuck my knee out I would have easily touched ground...
When I ride I also lean forward (suburban-machinery bars help that too, putting more of my weight over the front wheel). I also slide my body to the inside of the turn, not quite hanging off though (not usually at least). I lead with my head too (sometimes referred to as "kissing your mirror").
Hey nice riding - about how fast were you going ?
one day...maybe one day i'll be able to ride like that. :dunno:
speed varies. that last turn was about 30-40mph. The other turns a bit faster and the straights were faster still. Never over 55 though, on that canyon.
Angeles Crest is another story...
chinox22x-
you chose the right bike to learn to ride that way. That video was shot a few months back. I had been riding a total of 16 months or less when it was shot.
Wow! That was cool. What kind of setup do you have to film that stuff. I always thought it would be cool to video some riding. :)
what media player do i need to see this? i can't seem to get it to connect to windows media player
I watch it [endlessly-j/k] on windows media player. Try saving it to disk, then viewing it.

The guy that took the video uses a digital still camera (with a video function), attached to a mount that bolts to the bolt hole pattern of the gas tank cap. It's rigid aluminum.
Pablo,
You should think about doing a track day at Streets of Willow. You will defintely be dragging your knee through the bowl if not a couple other turns before the day's end.

I'd like to later this summer. Might do Fastrack riders out at California Speedway though...Met a couple of instructors up at Newcombs...They also do them at Streets of Willlow and Buttonwillow.

Pantablo can you post a new website for your canyon video i cant access it thanks.
umbrellatoe made me laugh.
Link is dead now :(
is there a new link or video
have you guys tried to "right click/save target as" onto your desktop, then open it in windows media player?
yeah, I tried both ways, clicking and saving, and it didn't work. I checked the parent directory, and it's not listed there...maybe double check again?
Ditto for checking the parent directory...Interested in checking it out!

Does someone else want to host it. I have had this trouble with this link before....I'll have to contact the author of the video (he's the host also).I'll see what he can do.
The video of this sunday's ride is pretty funny...He's riding his new R1 and its all...turn, throttle, sky, brake, turn, throttle, sky, brake, turn, throttle, sky, brake, turn, throttle, sky, and so on...
That link drives to NOT FOUND page, where can I see that video? I think I could host it...
Yeah, I talked to the guy and he's added video from our last ride (video in means old video out due to bandwidth on his end). He's going to send me the actual file but I'll need to have someone host it on a more permanent basis...
Anyone?
how big is said file?
If its the one I have it 678KB.
hell. if it's that small, i can put it in my comcast space at least until i launch my portfolio site (which probably won't be for awhile).

Will,
I emailed you the file.

cool, thanks. I assume this is a temporary hosting, for now. Looking for someone to more permanently host it.
Also, I think the original link is working again, for only a few days/weeks...
this is indefinite hosting. i'm unlikely to need that space soon, but might someday.
cheers,
