Title: Yoshi exhaust
Post by: katfan97 on June 17, 2004, 02:08:07 PM
Hello. I'm really freakin new to this site, like 10 minutes new.  I've been hangin around w/o posting for about 2 weeks, reading.  Anyway, I'm buying a '93 GS500 and I want to immediately upgrade the pipe, and thus the jet kit.  Unfortunately I'm at my wit's end trying to find the right Yoshi exhaust.  Does anyone have an opinion on V & H v. Yoshi?  Can someone give me an idea where to buy either?  Thanks.

I've been havin a hard time tracking down pipes as well. Seems like manufacturers have stopped carrying pipes specifically for the GS.

Exactly.  I was reading these pages (the racer's pages) and decided to look up the Yoshi pipe.  I've found the V & H, but his opinion of that pipe wasn't so great. Out.

to my knowledge, vance and hines is the only full exhaust system available for the gs. yoshimura makes a slip-on that i have found but that entails cutting the stock pipe and fitting the slip-on over it.

i had decided to stay stock until i noticed that someone drilled holes in the baffle of the stock pipe on my bike. the previous owner must have done it. boy i have alot of stuff to blame on him. it sounds like kinda nice but it isnt a nice smooth sound. so i dont know what im going to do yet... :dunno:

Actually,  I read in a post way long time ago that the Yoshi pipe is a full system and isn't made anymore. But if you're lucky you can find one on Ebay. V & H is the only other fully system I know of for the GS. There are other brands that make slip-on pipes. Cobra, Jardine, and I think Laser does the slip-on. Oh and gurus you correct this statement if I'm wrong

with the introduction of the gs500F model yoshi now shows a slip on for the gs500. the yoshi full system, no longer made is the best full system IMO and I've read it makes the best power.

V&H only full system available new. A few other full systems can be bought second hand.

I have a Jardine full system that I bought NOS from e-bay.  I have heard that they are still available new from some outlets.  I really like mine, it sounds great, makes excellent power, and I don't have to drop the  primaries to get the oil filter out.  Good luck on your search.

i own a yosh system, i love it. i get looks all the time riding down the road. but i bought mine used from one of the racers on our site. i got a killer deal, i got it for $180, it was a little damaged from a spill but it works and sound excellent. i highly recommend the yosh.   but you have to be patient to find one, it took me like 6 months to find one.
good luck bro :thumb:
