Hey everyone,
I have been looking at and drooling on Honda VTR 1000's (Superhawk/Firestorm) for a long while now. I am getting ready to hopefully buy one but, first, I must sell my baby. I have a red 93' GS with aftermarket Flander's handlebars, Lockhart Phillips short stalk signals, elimanated fender and just under 15k miles. She has a small dent on the right side of the tank, some scratches on the can, and a replaced right engine cover all thanks to the Srinath bar incident :( . I also have a brand new chain and sprocket on her.
I'm planning on putting an add out in cycle trader or something asking around $1800-$2000 and then just see what kind of offers I get. Does anyone have any suggestions on how much I can expect to get. Should I go ahead and take off my tank and try to bang out the dent(4.5'' width, <3'' height, <.25'' depth at deepest point)? I'm open to any suggestions whatsoever. Thanks!
-Mike
I don't know the market in your area, but your asking price seems a little high. However, the current gasoline situation might change all that. Gasoline here has slipped below $1.80 again, but current events are bound to affect petroleum prices.
As for your dent, you might try one of those suction cup dent removers I've seen advertised recently, or even a toilet plunger. There's also a technique using compressed air to pop it out from the inside. Aside from that, you're better off just leaving it as is.
I definitely know that my asking price is high but, I want to put it up for that and just see what kind of offers I can get.
Chances are you going to be selling it to another new rider. I totally overlooked the dent in mine when i bought it. Fixing it is way too much trouble
