Who here knows which wire need to be connected to by-pass the ignition switch on a 94. The only key I have is broken. I can have another key made later but it is a bike the I am parting out and want to check a few things first.
umm im sure ur going to do smehting illegal
haha i dunno know how
PM to follow... I don't want some potential thief to read this...
its so super simple, one wire, from positive side of batt to........ yeah like im gonna tip my hand  though it does work for most bikes reguardless of make. info was passed to me by a former bike thief, claimed he could steel any bike if the the handlebars wernt locked.

the exact reason in ALWAYS lock my bars :guns:
OK, now I'm curious. Does this method bypass all the sensors like the kill switch, the cluch sensor, and the kick stand sensor??? :dunno:
Please tell me cuse I'm thimking of putting in a hiden switch into the bike and I need to know where the circuit is getting interupted!

i'd imagine not. it just completes the power loop like turning the key does. all other rule and regulations apply.
I have a busted (theft) ignition switch I use when I get a GS with no keys...
Screwdriver starts it.....
If you have a dremel and an old windshield wiper insert from your car I can tell you how to make a lock pic and pick it......
does the gs500 have a steering lock??
ya it does
how do i use it?
turn the key to lock
allthough it (lock) can be defeated with a little push/pull action, and can be hotwired with a common office commodity. (wont elaborate. was told this at mmi 8)
What... Its no damn secret, I'll show you with pictures... I had my vulcan for over a year this way... had it locked and the electricals were separate... Oh BTW a Kawi is much cooler... If you dont hit start the lights dont come on... so people can fiddle with it too... have a hidden switch that has to be on to start... and no lights to come on and kill your battery.
Cool.

ok i cannot get my key to turn to the lock position. ..... what might i be doing wrong???
put it this way, one wire, once connected will power the bike just like if the key was used. lights, gauges, starter, everything.
im just asking how to get my steering lock to work, i have never used it before. i suppose i will start a new thread.
Thanks for the info. I was being lazy and did not want to spend the time reading the manual. There have been other priorities recently.
turn wheel to the left all the way, insert key and turn to left, there are 2 spots, one marked L or lock, and one marked P alitle more to left, P will turn on tail light so it can be seen at night on side of road while locked, lock position will just lock the steering.
it takes 2 connections to get the ignition and all the lights to work
one works the starter and the headlight and the other connection works tha tail light blinkers and guage and warning lights
red and orange go together and grey and tan go together
red and orange are starter and headlight and grey and tan are everything else
This is scary how easy it was to bypass the key switch. But then my race bike is even easier to start. No key, just flip a switch to turn it on.
If I had a street GS, I would put a hidden kill switch to disable the bike. Maybe so it would disable the signal from the ignition rotor pickup.
No spark = no run.
yea very easy done it on a old bike I had and a car I was given, that had no door handles or ingition key
conect a few wires and touch them to the starter wire, after its started remove istarter wire from the others
I had to hot wire a B2000 pickup once and then right after we got started one of the guys showed up with the keys.
Interesting that we had a flat bed truck get stolen from work last night. Crashed the fence. Did not steal anything else that we could tell but a few 20 year old batteries from some antique cars.

On my bike, I often have to push the steering a little bit left for the key to go to Lock. If there is resistance to turning the key to Lock, try wiggling the steering a little while you turn the key.
