It was a beautiful day here in Edmonton yesterday. A beautiful day for a ride. A fellow rider, I do not know his name, and 3 of his friends were out for the evening. Their chosen route was a 'mecca' road, one of the only really twisty roads here. It follows an old ravine. Some riders try it, some try hard, some take their time. The problems are the curbs, the concrete barriers and the poles. The police say he was a victim of too much speed and not enough experience. He hit a curb - was thrown into the air and hit a pole. He died.
Edmonton has had 11 traffic fatalities this year - 3 were riders.
Please be safe, know your limits (and the road's limits).
Live, enjoy and ride - tomorrow may be a beautiful day too.
I'll try posting his name once they release it.
