calling all non-welded srinaths' flange owners

i did not weld my flange to the header pipe, i just slipped it into place.

i noticed water dripping from the connection where the stock pipe and the flange meet, i know this is natural occurance but if water can seep out i'm sure gasses are too (though i cannot feel it when i place my hand there).

i did this mod primarily for the sound, not for hp improvement. i'll probably go with a k&n filter/jetkit next and see what she does on the dyno. i'm hoping there is a slight increase (hoping for significantly more - i'd like to keep bragging to my harley pals that my bike has more hp than theirs).

just wondering if you noticed any water/exhaust gas seepage too...

I noticed this one time but that was it.  But just to be sure I purchased a muffler clamp.  I also did get a new exhaust just for sound, although I have noticed a bit of a performance difference.

Yea they will leak more when new, then clog with soot and carbon a bit ... now you have your flange and can pointing high, and you left it in the rain for a bit ??? then ... you took in water in the snout and that has run down the pipe and out the flange ... Very common ... in fact ... the real practical use of shout ... else you take more water ...
Cool.

oh, i forgot to mention - I LOVE THIS FLANGE EXHAUST MOD !!!  :thumb:

i can't wait to ride with the gs crew again, last time EVERYONE had the stock exhaust (i even commented on that). i'd like to hear how the other guys' exhaust mods sound.

maybe it's just me (since i just did this mod) but the bike seems faster

Yeah mine seems to have more acceleration through the lower gears but I could be imagining things :dunno:  :dunno:  :dunno: .

Yeah, if Chris (weazelnoze) would have had his bike like he was SUPPOSED TO  :P , you would have heard his wileyco. He has his rejetted and a luncbox I believe. I heard his on the Allentown GS ride and was like "wow my bike can sound like that?". That is what made me REALLY want to get an exhaust on the GS, I heard it actually had potential of sounding good  :thumb:

Ya I have sleep issues, I think.  :o  I often do not go to bed until I am ready for sleep if I am "alone". No sense sitting there tossing and turning. My girlfriend works nights so I often stay up late and talk to her online anyways   I typically work 9am-5:30pm, so I get up about 8am.

I have noticed a little water dripping out.  Condensation in the exhaust.

A lot of the new cars have a little drain hole in the muffler to let the water run out.  If it would lay in there for a while it would promote rust.  So dripping out = good especially if short trips are taken and really not getting it up to full/normal operating temperature.

havn't noticed... mine stays in the garage.

i beliieve that the stock muffler has a hole drilled in the bottom of it for the same drainage purpose....

If you can't feel it any gas coming out when the bike's on I don't see how any could be coming out. And even if some is leaking out, I don't really see how so little could be a problem. (Especially when compared with the edges of the Wileyco itself, where you can feel exhaust leaking out.)

But, I don't see that a GS owner could ever claim to have more hp than a HD owner, regardless of how you jet it. If you need something to brag about you could put like a 9 tooth sprocket in front, and claim to have more torque... you'd just never go above 40mph...

mine leaked gasses.  i could tell by the carbon build up which looked like streaks.  it was like that for awhile and i just assumed it sealed itself but then i repainted and it came back.   so i welded it.
