Well I almost bought a SV650 today.  My problem is that I change my mind every couple of days.   I see now that I won't be content with only one bike.

Came close to getting an SV650 when we got the White Owl. Blue '01 model, low miles and over-priced. But it was a nice bike. If I could go get me a new bike I'd like to have a new Superglide or if something sportier then an XB12 would be fine. But then I'd be happy if I could just go get the White Monkey. Love the Baby GS and this forum.

Motorcycles are crack man...I now have 4 in the garage.  3 streetbikes and one dirtbike.  I am selling the Kawasaki ZX6 soon to get a YZ125 dirtbike.  That will make a total of 6 bikes in the last 3 years.  The good thing is that if you go with used bikes instead of buying new, it's not all that hard to support more than one.  I haven't paid over 4K for any of them, and the latest addition (the GS) was $1300.  I got a Ninja 250 for my wife when she wanted to learn for $1000 and when she was ready to switch, I sold it for $1000.  See what I mean?  :thumb:

Hey,

I was maybe going to upgrade from my GSF to a SV since my sister wants to buy my bike off of me. What do you think, sv650s or 1000s? What i am scared off once again is getting to used to the power. Is there a big difference between the two? 350cc is the only difference. What do you guys think. I love the sound of the SVs compared to Inline 4s, so i would like one of them.

it's a lot more then just 350cc.....about 25 more horses.....bit more torque....added weight.....650 is more  "flickable".....I think the 1k would be better if you plan to do commuting....if you're doing mostly in town and curvy rides then the 650 will suit you better....

....other things to consider....about $300 year extra for ins. for hte 1k....also since it's more expensive annual reg. fees will be higher.....650 gets tons better gas mileage....and that's just off the top of my head....

PETE: No, it's not. It's funking Sunday. And I've got to go to funking work in four funking hours 'cos every other funker in my funking department is funking ill! Now can you see why I'm SO FUNKING ANGRY?

ED: Funk, yeah!

I went from the GS500 to a TL1000.  Lots more power, but I just have to be responsible with it.  Gass mileage sucks though (31 mpg)  120 miles per tank.  The 1000 feels alot better to me.  More stable and better suspension.  Still fun in the twisties, but is a bit of a pig.  I was a little faster still on the GS through some of the more curvy rodes around here.  Glad I got the TL though and the GS is still hanging around in the garage.

I love my SV.  I bought her new in 03 for $6k out the door, but mine is a SVS, and not the standard SV.  The SV runs just a bit cheaper (around $500-$1000 less).  You will be amazed at the differnce.  I would wait and go with the fuel injected if you can find one (they run a lot smoother then the carberated ones).  You can usually find 03 SVS for about $4k and a SV for around $3500.

I almost bought an '05 SV the other day for $6,100.  Glad I didn't, now.  Those salesmen are good at their jobs.  I'm just a cheap ass.

Boomboom, do you have any picks of your SV?

I almost bought an 05 sv650s as well but I changed my mind and decided to buy the 05 gsxr600.  Damn I love my bike.  I think the ladies like it too.

Hi-T

I bought an 04 svs... I love it.

I had a 01 gs.  In the first six months that I owned it, I did a full V&H, K&N and rejet, I changed the gearing, advanced the timing, up'ed the front and rear suspension, and switched to radials (among other things).

In the 7 months I've owned the SV, I haven't changed a thing and it would kick my old gs's booty.  If you need more power than that on the street- you're probably breaking the law.

Yep sure do.  Will post them when I get home.  Here is where you can find one of the pictures, mine is the copper one with a white sticker on the wind screen.  The SV all the way on the end of the pictures of the bikes is my friend Q's bike (he is the one that helped me buy the GS for our friend).  Will all his aftermarket parts on the bike, he paid $3800 for it.  It came with an olins rear shock, 180 wheel, 520 kit, race tech forks, Vortex rear set, air box etc.

Got my 2004 SV650S out the door for 5900.  I also got the dealer to match the Oneida Suzuki online price for the lowers.  My total out the door was 6300 for the bike fully faired.

Little tiny pic.  Meighan, who used to post here, wrecked her GS and bought the same color SV you have.

Actually if you click on the picture, it gets much bigger.  Thanks.  I love my baby.  Here before too long I will be picking up an Aprillia Milie R Factory.  That one I can't wait for.
