Help! Bike Won't Start

I've got a 04 GS500 that's been sitting in the garage for 4-5 months. I started it and let it run every month or so to keep the battery going. I tried turning it on today after about a month of non-use and instead of starting up, it turns but then there is just a couple loud click/poping sounds from under the seat (usually don't here this) and it won't start.

There is gas in the tank, the lights turn on, and carb is on. I tried pumping the throttle before starting as well...

Anyone know what might be going on?

Thanks  :)

Dead battery. Starting the bike once a month and running it for short periods of time is actually horrible for the battery (and the bike). Below 5K RPMs, the generator doesn't produce much current, and is actually a drain on the battery. Need to keep the RPMs above 5K for like 10-12 minutes before it'll start recharging the battery.

Go buy a battery tender jr. for like $20 from wal mart. Charge the battery overnight. If you're lucky, it'll work. If not, go buy a new battery, then keep it on the battery tender when you're not riding.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

Yup the same thing happend to me about 3 months ago. I went to WalMart and bought this Schumacher 6,4,and 2 amp charger "Speed Charge" is what it is called. I paid like 26 bucks. I figured I try that first instead of a new battery. I priced a new battery and it was like 55 dollars.

12 volt.

2amp will boil the battery, but harm it permanently; watch your fluids.
