I think this was your fault but either way this is why I carry a few lug nuts in my pockets when I go out of town.

I have only been driving for a little over a year now but it really pisses me off when a idiot passes me then slows down in front of me  or passes me then takes the next exit  with no one behind me I think it should be mandatory for everyone to take a defensive driving class every couple years. and you with your finger    I think your finger is going to get you in a lot of trouble  slow down and smell the flowers you are not fonzzi
Call the police, suck it up you are involved by you giving  the finger  makes you a participant  in the road rage live and learn .

this pretty much sums it up for me, I didn't say it was just you who was at fault but since there were two of you then you share the fault. I had an 18 wheeler do this to me on I-10 in San Bernandino. If something like this happens to me then I just either get the hell away or pull over (if I leave my lug nuts at home:) )

Could always make an anonymous tip implicating the offending driver in terrorist acts.

I am glad you are okay! I would have gone down the breakdown lane if I had to at a high speed to get like 20 cars between us, and then I would be watching my rearview mirror.

I've had a bunch of anencephalics do this to me, pretty much because they assumed I was in their way when I was just trying to get the ef OUT of their aggressive asss ways so they could get by. Once on the fwy when I was a kid driving my mini truck, some dumb guy slammed his brakes on like 4 times and he kept slowing down and swerving in front of me, I had come onto the fwy ahead of him and kept moving left and he was on my tail, and I was just trying to get away from him, so then I went right to give him the lane, and that wasn't good enough. That was the first time someone pulled that stunt with me. It scared me so bad I shook for a long time.
The next time I was a little older, and had some other moron do that to me on a city street, twice. At the next red light he stopped, I got out with the great big long steel bar that sat stock behind my seat in a brace- it was a tool to slide into the mechanism that lowered my rear tire from under the bed of the truck. I didn't get to even his rear bumper before he blew the light! It pissed me off as I really wanted a piece of his effing truck.

Too many other times I've had this type of crap done to me or seen people pull this BS stunt on other people, but once in Colorado I was harassed while driving a 24' class C RV on a city street, because I had CAli plates. That's it. I was there as an exhibitor in a sculpture show. Artists were bringing a ton of money into the town, plus it is a tourist town (Loveland, I hope the earth swallows it up in a fiery pit that leads straight to hell, I was constantly harassed when in my vehicle). So this kid and his buddy in a little tiny Honda Civic must have slammed his brakes on in front of me 3-4 times. The first time I had to hit the brakes so hard because it was so unexpected that my dog and other stuff in the cabin went sliding all over. I thought Frick! What an Ahole! And I backed way off so he could have plenty of room to be an idiot all by himself, since I'd been constantly harassed for four days by then. I went into the right lane to get another lane away. He swerved in front of me again and slowed me to a crawl, so I stopped, and he stopped. He made me sit there then took off laughing. I waited but it was traffic heavy so I had to get moving or get hit. I was going slow, I came up well under the speed limit still in the right lane and he swerved into my lane again and did it again. I pulled over to the side of the road and waited til he moved on again. Then I started out again. I was on my way out of town, I needed to be on that road. Well he waited around the corner and did it one more time, coming up to an intersection and slowed me again to a crawl. I was ready to push his ass into oncoming traffic at this point, but I didn't want to risk my radiator and my trans cooler, and I didn't want to be a Californian in jail in Colofuckingrathole. If I'd been in my lifted Bronco with the huge custom winch front bumper and huge wheels and tires, I would have just put it in four low and shoved him a couple hundred feet down the street or climbed over him like Bigfoot. He was lucky he was still alive and not under my front wheels from the first offense for stopping so fast at speed, what a complete moron to think a 6 ton rig could stop as fast as his little piece of crap, he came within a few feet of being buried in it! I had a 12,000 pound rig to his 2,000 lb sht-box. Finally he figured he had to turn right so he was satisfied. I had told my roomie to get my .38 plus p snub nose out, and we pulled up alongside him with the passenger window down and pointed the gun in his face, but kept it in the window frame so no one but the driver could see it. He couldn't turn right fast enough, tires squealing, and I didn't stop driving pretty fast on the fwy out of Colorado for like four hours until I was halfway through Wyoming!

So yeah, even nice people might have guns, be careful who you mess with. And yeah, tell the cops, maybe stake out that on ramp around the same time of day with a car and a buddy and wait to see if he gets on there again, and tail him. Then you can flatten all his tires, crack his mirrors and put superglue in all of his locks.
Just kidding about the mirrors. ;)

I had a nasty experience when some swine deliberately swerved out to block my overtaking, almost forcing me off the road. What can you do? Even a police report will have limited effect, given your lack of evidence.

Sadly, giving the finger isn't going to help. All you can do is curse under your helmet and know you're the better (wo)man.

Back to the original post. In car vs bike, you knows the odds are with the car. Even more so if it is a truck. You can accelerate to 100mph before most trucks even know what is going on. You probably (hopefully) can out turn any car/truck you are likely to meet. So why on earth would you ride next to the MFer on straight pavement, and make a target of yourself. Stupid when your vehicle weighs 1/10 of his. If you can ride, then ride away. If you can't ride, then give him the road.

In any case, I'd much rather explain to a cop while i was speeding/lane-splitting/"reckless driving" than have the cop explain to my mother why i am dead.

First sign of danger or anything i get as far away as possible. And if i can't out run them, i can out brake (yes it may have been a slip about my bikes health) them.

and i have noticed, from experience, that most pick up truck drivers seem to want to kill motorcyclists.

be safe everyone.

What are they doing while you are taking their car keys? What are you doing when they pull the xtra car key on their house keys (like I have so I don't get locked out of the car by my kid) and run you over as you are walking to your bike?

Most incidents i just nail it and leave them in the dust. If they are persistant then they are serious, in which case il just keep putting vehicles between us. First sign they pull a stunt like slamming the brakes on in front of me il remeber their plate and report to the police they are looking for this make/model with this reg and a missing wingmirror.

this is what guns are for, and replacement barrels.

Haha, +1

Whats bolts and nuts going to do? I carry the lead fish line weights now but they dont look like they will bounce if dropped..

The same exact thing happened to me *cough* I mean my friend so he changed lanes really fast and slowed down for the Dodge to pass and commenced a tail. The driver of the Dodge started swerving and breaking and eventually pulled off the side of the road and my friend followed him, got off the bike, and charged the cab. The driver (typical tapout t-shirt wearing poser) and his two friends got out. But before the driver was able to get into fighting stance my friend beat him to the ground with his polycarbonate knuckles -- as well as one of their friends who tried loading a gun.. The third vanilla ice wannabe backed off and submitted and my friend left with their wallets, keys, and a new .45
Seemed like a good idea at the time

The only thing I want to know is why the f%$k the gun wasn't already loaded.   An unloaded gun is as much use as a f%$king paper weight.
