So I bought my GS in April of 07.  Kelly Blue Book was $1255 at the time.
Currently, KBB has my bikes value at $1485.
So in just under two years the bike has actually APPRECIATED $230!!!
Anyone else notice a similar trend?!

Yup, that's probably it.

Although, Aaron must ride like my grandma if he's getting 60MPG.   :icon_mrgreen: :icon_razz:
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

I just thought it was an interesting side note.  GS's are actually quite hard to find these days.  people are snatching them up fast for the MPG.

I got almost that much for my first two tanks--when I was afraid of anything beyond 5500 RPMs.  Since then, I've not done quite so well!  NOT BAD miind you, but not that well!  Still over 50.

Another thing I have noticed, these days parts aren't worth crap.
I mean in the old days parts had to be bought at junkyards, and they would hold a monopoly and they had these conference calls and ask and get parts from each other and literally they all held the market tight. You had to pay 1/2 retail or die without the parts. They also have parts tucked away that they had no intention of letting go at any less than their price.

Since you had no clue they had 12 different fairing sets for your bike in 9 different colors, you were stuck thinking its rare and unavailable.

The first crack in that wall appeared when parts depot and ron ayers were selling parts at close to 60% of retail for new. Suddenly the used crap for 1/2 retail was very very over priced.

Now with ebay totally governing what is being sold, every tom duck and harry can part stuff out. In the old days, you had no option except to pass it on to the junkyards. Now no way ... further ... the individual who has wrecked it and is parting it off does not even care what the part costs new ... they have moved on ... either away from bikes or onto a different bike ... so this is just somehting to be gotten out of the way. I have bought stuff at prices that make the old friends I have that are used to the tight market simply drop their dentures into the whiskey they're drinking.

My buying the clutch case cover off a kat for $10 elicited a gasp from this old dude ... who promptly wanted another one and maybe a third ... He told me that ~1992 he paid 250 for it. I paid $10 and got the whole clutch with it.

Now those that are attempting to get 1/2 of retail on fleabay are just languishing ... cos lets face it, wrecking+blowing up+stealing+other BS takes place at nearly 10-20 times the rate of fixing it up. Huge supply and demand imbalance. On fleabay, you need to be in the cheapest 1/3 of the range for any part and have it 100% useable and very presentable for it to have any chance of selling unless its high demand item. There its restricted by new or close to new $$ ...

LOL I got the tax value on my '93 yesterday at $530.00 and I paid $1400.00 for it.   First bike and all what did I know.   I will say I have had more than $1400.00 worth of fun on it already.
Attack but have a back up plan
