drag racing is racing too!  Here's a picture of me on my other bike from last year.  Taking the GS next.  Anybody put down some good times on a GS?

Well I dunno.  It's like NASCAR but without even the left turns! :tongue2:

That said when you get out there, make sure to post your 1/4 mile times!

I've hit 13.08 @ 100mph with a 1.916 60ft. I got pretty much every thing done to the bike, wiseco pistons port & polish heads full exhaust, k&n, etc. I got to tune the carbs more, after that, I will hit 12's easely.

Will keep you informed

What gearing did you have?

I'm running 15t front sprocket and standard rear. I did not looked at what rpm I cross the line but it is around 8k

Wow!  That's alot better than I thought a GS would do.  If you got lucky in the first sixty feet you'd be well into the 12s, even without dialing in the carbs.  NICE WORK!

That's a nice 60ft for a car, I dunno about bikes.

Thanks! It is not so bad for bikes too I am shure that I can go low 1.8 with the power I have with lot of practice. Motorcycles usualy do 1.8-2.0 60ft even if they got liter sport bike because they don't handle the power but they can go as low as 1.6-1.7 after that they need longer swing arm.

Right now I am waiting for a new stator coil because the one I have just blew 2 weeks ago. As soon I receive it I'll go to the track to see a 12 second pass from that gs500... euhm gs554 now with the bored pistons lol.

I went and ran at bristol dragway last night, and my best time was a 14.970 at 85.73 mph with a .008 reaction time!  from there my runs hovered around the 15 second mark

Eight thousanths of a second!  Nice reaction time.  Was that your first time out or have you been doing it for awhile?

first time out, never been on a dragstrip before, on bike or car.
my first run was a .313 rt, second was .008   and red lighted on the other 4 runs.  funny thing is even though my runs
vcaried a fair bit, no 2 runs were more than 1.5 mph trap speed difference.  my main problem was getting off the line consistently, my first run was like a 16.2 then my second run was my fastest of the night, being a 14.97.  if I could launch the thing properly, and tuck, I should be in the mid 14s hopefully.  but thats only gonna come with time, and I'm in no hurry, I was the slowest bike, but I guarantee I had the most fun!

I had a veteran racer explain to me back in the day that the MPH is a good indication of horsepower and doesn't vary much from run to run.  He also said people their carb/injection tuning based on MPH and not ET because it gives you a good indication of what's going on with your motor.  Don't know if it's right, but sounds like it might be.

Try to talk to people at the track.  They will usually have good advise and most people are happy to help out.   A single tip on launching from a guy at the track got me from consistant 10.40's to consistant 9.90's in one outing.

Once again, nice job.  Sounds like you picked it up much faster than I did my first time out.

It's true, he had a blast. You could see him smiling through his helmet in stands. lol  Maybe one of these days I'll get some leathers and we'll compare a stock GS to your modded one. I should be a bit slower consider you've got a pipe, jet and gear in yours I believe.  I wish I could remember what the magazines tested the quarter mile at. 13something is stuck in my mind but I'm not sure.

BTW, you guys set a heck of a pace through the twisties this weekend. I was impressed.

When is the next street fight coming up?
