Oil Pan Gasket leaking again after new gasket

I replaced my oil pan a few weeks ago. The other day I noticed some seeping coming from the gasket. So i was reading another post and it said to put some sealent on the gaset. Any one tried this? i was thinking about doing it. Also since this is a new gasket should I just replace it again or just trow some sealent on it. Any advice?

try to re-torque the bolts first..if no joy use some sealant. be sure to ensure all clean and dry.

Wipe everything down and lightly sand with high grit (1000+) sandpaper to get off every last trace of old gasket. Apply a super super thin coating of RTV to the gasket and make sure there are no gaps (I normally apply it only to the outermost edge of the gasket to allow for the least chance of it getting into the oil track. )

I just had to change the oil in the rear differential in my truck. They do not use gaskets. I cleaned everything out and scrubbed the cover and housing with a SOS pad, let it dry and used the black oil resistant (gasket maker) Permatex, let it sit overnight and by the next day it is cured and ready to hold oil.

You didn't put any nicks in the metal where the gasket lays right? If so, definitely think about using some RTV.

I use rtv silicone on all my gaskets. Habit, never had a leak though. If it is on a part you want to keep pretty, just wipe the excess after torquing the bolts.

Thanks for all the advice guys. Im going to buy a new gasket and put a little sealent on it.
