Was going to write something poignant but forgot what it was. Save it for later.

Took the powerful & sporty DL1000 out for a quick 70 miles this morning.
All went pretty damn good mechanically. um... considering it's not a GS500.

Open loop fuel injection on that V-Strom of mine...
The Good: With my cool hand-held Tek-tuner I can make the ECU do anything I damn well please.
The Bad: Jetting carbs is so much easier than all this computer bunk.
The Ugly: Without a $25,000 dyno, changing ECU settings at anything above an idle is a fool's venture.

Admit it. You wankers admire my sexy V-twin.
... It's OK, you may all worship at the font of piss-poor Suzuki fuel injection.

Serious EJ.... why the Weestrom over the V?

I've ridden the Wee and would take it in a heartbeat of the Versys thou. But am yet to ride the V and wonder about it.

A Suzuki "wee" is the user-friendly 650 powered V-Strom bike.
A similar bike called  the "Vee" is the trouble prone SV1000 powered big brother to the wee.
My bike is the 1000cc Suzuki Vee Strom. It is a bug infested, over powered, top heavy, technical challenge, and I need that. I'm a life-long technician.

A soul searching Yank...
I sold the GS500 for the same reason I sold my little Yamaha and before that the Honda...
I buy it, I mod the hell out of it. I research every weakness or idiosyncrasy and address it to perfection.
Then, once perfect, I get bored with the thing and sell it.

You saw my GS500F videos. There was simply nothing else to do to make the bike better. The carbs, valves, intake, exhaust, electrical, add-on gadgets, etc... were all tricked out.
My GS was coming up on 7000 miles too. As pristine as she was, I knew had to sell it soon before I ended up with a charity case.
Ya see... Any bike (other than a Harley) loses about $600 in value per year. She was already 5 years old with a street value of about $2500. In a few more seasons, I would have to pay someone to cart it away.

I had to unload it.
It's not my fault! Please. I had no choice.
Sniff, sniff, I loved that bike... but it had to go!

Oh, and as for my DL1000 Vee-Strom...
That thing is so fuked up I'll be tweaking & modding it for the rest of my life and still not have it perfect. So yeah, I'll own that bug infested sh!t wagon  forever.

My next bike will be a honda nc700x, a CB1100, or a suzuki V-Strom 650 Adventure.

Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

An NC700x and a DL650adv seem to fit the bill but a CB1100 is on a whole different list, no?  :dunno_black:

But it's a retro bike from the 1969 CB750.  It's damn sexy.

Final weigh-in to the weight loss challenge in 1 hour.

This morning I was down 40 lbs from the beginning (January 6 2013).  Unless the second place person lied, it's in the bg for me.

Agreed! That retro Honda is indeed a snazy ride.

Congrats Jester!  :thumb:

Buy some bling for your bike...

I got out on Saturday, clouds and an occasional damp road but no rain as such, lots of fun! Got my favourite corners in that haven't done for many months too... just before you hit Somerset Dam going south. I always thought that was Splityard Creek but it's not, apparently that's the open sweepers after you cross to the eastern side of Wivenhoe.

It did confirm I need bigger mains though, WOT in 6th and I run out of steam at 130kph... that sucks! Dropping back to 5th didn't even help... and that's got me smack bang where I get the most grunt out of her now too...

Just curious pete...
What exactly would you consider a pleasing WOT speed for a 450cc mill pushing a 199 kilo bike?
Just wondering  :dunno_black:
