Well, dunno about quite that close... but close!  :D

I do need to sort a weeping front brake line, noticed a few drops of brake fluid under the left caliper the other day and tracked it down to where the banjo comes out of the sheath over the braided line, so it should be a warranty job, need to give them a call.  :technical:

Tomorrow should see the dash assembly happen and getting the horn mounted, and then start on the dash connection to the harness which won't be complicated (4 wires).

Monday arvo I need to take the weeping brake line back after speaking to them yesterday, should be good for a warranty job  :thumb:

Acewell is mounted with the dash, satin black seems to work well with it  :thumb:

All wired in ready to go too (yep, neutral and oil lights are bright!)...

Yeah there's quite a stir on it on the Kat forum. One fella over in Western Australia was the first in the country to put a deposit down on one before he even saw it, and I think there's at least one other fella who's since put a deposit down also.

I'm happier with my old school original as the new one is really just a GSX-S1000 with fancy bodywork, but having said that it is growing on me, especially the silver one.

At the end of the day the original Kat was still a GSX1100, although the design of course was cutting edge and polarising, whereas the new one is just a modern take on an older model.

Bugger Yama, glad to hear you didn't wait and are recovering though!  :thumb:

It would definitely suck to be minus an arm, that wouldn't be very handy? (sorry if it's too soon!)

I've got a few little odds and ends sorted on the Kat but nothing photo worthy. I did get the weeping front brake line replaced under warranty so that's good to go again now.

Mostly I'm playing the waiting game for each pay to do the final few things before I can do the on road costs, but I'm also tidying up all the loose ends as well.

Started on the paint prep for the headers on Sunday, gonna take a lot of effort to get those ready as whatever coating is on there now is really on there! Two rounds of paint stripper and still more to do, probably going to have to sand the rest by hand to get the best result but I'm fine with that.

One thing I need to figure out is labels for the fuses and relays. None of what I can find via Google or on eBay are suitable as they're all either car or boat focused, so I can get some things but not all. I think I'll have to make them up which will be a nice little project on its own.

Been figuring how to label my fuses and relays... none of the generic labels I've found online are suitable. Ended up real simple... print it out, stick to thin cardboard with clear packing tape, and stick to the inner guard with double sided tape. Easy!

Simple solutions work the best Eh?. Working on recovering after that surgery last sat. Getting tired of the slice and dice stuff lmao.

Yes indeed! Avoiding my usual tendency to over complicate things...

Slice and dice is great when it's in a recipe book, not so much on humans...  :dunno_white:

Gave the headers some paint yesterday and should be picking chain and sprockets up this arvo after work hopefully.

I had to drop the sump on the Kat as the sump plug thread repair I did was weeping. I used a spark plug repair insert but the top of it actually sits proud of the sump surface, so unsurprisingly it just doesn't end up 100% oil tight. I've used a proper thread insert this time so the crush washer under the plug actually sits flush nicely against the sump surface instead which should solve it.

While the oil is gone it was the perfect opportunity to get prepared for the oil cooler, so I made and installed a plug for the oil gallery that feeds the filter which forces the majority of the oil to flow via the cooler instead. The flow of oil will now be forced out of the banjo that's in the left of the pic, through the cooler, then in via the banjo in the right of the pic where it then goes through the filter for normal flow through the motor.

The plug's in the bottom left of the pic beside/below the filter. There's a 2.5mm diameter hole drilled in it so it's not a 100% blockage which replicated how the later GSX1100 EFE does its oil flow as they come stock with an oil cooler. They block the flow via the filter cover though, and it has a small recess that still allows some oil flow.

I realise that probably makes no sense, so if you want to actually understand what I'm raving about, read here: https://www.theflyingbanana.com/oil-cooler.htm  :D
