Installing a new seat lock

Well, I'm trying to replace my ghetto-rigged seat lock with a stock one. I put the ball @ the end of the cable into the seat release mechanism and then ran the cable down underneath the bike, but then I decide to move the bike so I'd have more room to work on it, so I put the seat back on. But now I the seat won't come off again. I'm pulling on the inner wire and I can hear it moving the release mechanism, but the seat is still being held down. What did I do wrong? The ball is in the release mechanism and is pulling it, so the seat should pop up. Is there any other way to get the seat unlocked?

Have someone pushed down on the seat, then pull and hold the cable, and see if the seat will lift off.

Well, I got the right-side panel off and was able to take these pics. As you can see the release mechanism is moving. Is it not moving far enough? I've tried pushing it with a screwdriver and it won't move any further. Is the yellow part of the cable blocking it? I think there's a notch that you can put the cable in, maybe I didn't put the cable far enough away?

I forgot to mention, the wire inside the cable will stay pulled by itself, it doesn't naturally go back to the regular position. I'm not sure if that's related or not.

whew, I got it. I didn't have the notch in the yellow part of the cable hooking onto the bike, so I think the cable was getting in the way. I poped the cable up and then pushed on the release mech. and the seat poped off

Sorry, one more lame question... Does anyone have a picture of their seat lock? I can't find the right place to mount mine. I've tried here...



...at those two holes just below middle of the picture, but it's hard to get the lock and cable in that position, so I'm thinking that's the wrong place.
