To repair a tire, or not to repair, that is the question.

I discovered a screw in my rear tire !  It is a BT 96 radial with about 75% of the tread left on it.  I like to ride pretty hard, and am wondering if a patch will withstand my mountain runs.  Since radials are not cheap and I am not going to mix tires, I wanted to know if I should order a new tire or fix the puncture.

Loved that movie. Ever see Police Squad? same thing but on TV-way over peoples heads...too bad.

Anyway, this just happened to someone else and there's a recent post about it. Basically it depends on where on the tire the screw is. If it's in the tread block you can have it patched. But as I said in the other post, there is SO much riding on the tires (no pun intended) that I wouldn't trust a patch. Buy a tire. Consider it insurance. A patch will be cheaper unless it fails on you. I wouldn't want to take that chance...but that's me.

Thanks Pablo, I was thinking the same thing.  I saw Police Squad, it was a good show..... didn't last too long though.
