Anyone running a trail tech computer?

I got around to installing mine  :o :) :o

Having issues with the tach, though...always reading too fast.  Right now I'm doing the inductive wire thing with just wrapping a signal wire around the 2nd plug.  I'm wondering if you can run this thing straight off the coil on a bike that's running two plugs per coil?

Thanks in advance!

i'm looking to do the same mod for next season!

I did some research a while back, and I think you need to have the "resistored RPM sensor"

I don;t know much about the install since I don;t have it yet, but maybe this info would help you!

Trail Tech Vapor, R&G frame sliders, SM2 bars, HID retrofited projector, GSXR mirrors, clear LED intergrated turn

Yeah when you buy a computer it comes with those wires.  I have it installed correctly...it's now going back and forth between reading accurately and bouncing so I just need a better connection.

from what I understand is that the one in the kit is not RESISTORED

you need the one that has a resistor intergrated to it.

just making sure you understand the info!

Wondering how accurate the speedo is??? both my stock gauges are way off and bouncy and this looked like a nice clean and and inexpensive fix.. Hows the product, Cheesy or well constructed . Looks gr8 on the bike!!!

makenzie71

Technically it has the potential to be far more accurate that your stock speedo because there's no moving parts and because you can tune and adjust this one on the fly to suite different tire profiles.  Radar checks put me at 71mph when my speedo reads 70.6mph.

I'm not sure...Obama had the sherrif's office split it up and divide the fine among all americans earning $250k or more a year.

That's what I said...if I had only known I would have been doing triples and probably would have ditched my registration and inspection...

When the law asks where your plate is, tell them "It's a special plate.  I work for a special secret agency.  Only other secret agents can see it."

If he laughs, you're fee to go.  If he doesn't laugh, you're screwed.

Which kit did u order??? Did it come with the magnet bolt that replaces the rotor bolt? Could u post a pic of the front forks showing how it looks with speedo on fork. Just trying to figure how much "Modding" this requires for the GS.

Thx

makenzie71

I'll snap a pic later today.  It comes with a magnet insert with a circlip for people who want to drill a new hole or if you own a KTM which seems to have the hole already, a magnetic bolt and nut, and a free magnet for people who have to glue a magnet down to something.

The magnetic rotor bolt won't work with the GS (or any other street bike that I've dealt with) because it's an 8mm bolt.  GS rotor bolts are 10mmX1.25 IIRC.  The magnetic bolt is just a hair too big to slid all the way through the rotor float rivet things, though, so I just snugged it up through one of them...I wish I could think of what the hell they're called right now.  It worked great since I had a clearance issue with the rotors and the GS750's forks so I needed it to be as low profile as possible.  The pickup is a bit shoddy because I have nowhere really to mount it on this bike.  It's held down with a couple of zip-ties while I sort out fork options...my forks suck.

Mdow

you should strap your old speedo back on with a zip tie or somthing and check to make sure they are both the same

Figured it wouldn't snap right on....but sounds do-able.. Just wanna make sure which kit I need for the GS resistor or non-resistor.

Thx

Mdow....the GS500 wheel on GS750 showa forks with dual rotors didn't allow room for a stock speedo drive...but, as said, it's radar verified.  Guy up the road is a county sheriff who rides...he confirmed a couple runs for me.
