in honor of our GS friends living in the not-so-pleasant-in-the-winter places, i just returned from a real nice ride.
temp in the lower 70's (a little windy, but not too bad), plenty of sunshine. just north of my place is an area of mostly rural backroads/farm-to-market roads, nice and hilly, lots of turns on well maintained pavement, not much traffic this time of day on a friday. lubed the chain, checked the oil and tire pressure, filled up the tank and made about a 70mile loop, and it sure was nice.
hope everyone here can get out soon and do likewise.
have a great weekend.

must be nice.  still looking at a few more months before mine comes out.  I really hate winter.

It isn't even nice is Los Angeles today. It has been raining since yesterday. Didn't stop me from riding to work though...

Nice and sunny here but COLD and we still have over 18" of snow on the ground and salt and crap all over the roads.  >:(

Grayghost,

As someone living in the icy northeast US and looking at months before any hope of riding, I hope you take this in the spirit in which it is intended: you suck! ;)

The only thing that could possibly increase my pain right now is if you include a beautiful picture from your ride.

lol if i seen a pic from his ride i will  :technical:

It's been a cold snowy winter here in NE Ohio, just 2" short of the all time record snow in January with many days topping out in the teens and nights below 0 degrees F.  Got a couple rides in after Christmas and a couple after New Years with the last on Jan 6th until Monday when I got about 20 miles in.  Expect to get out again tomorrow or Sunday as soon as the snow pack melts in the driveways and on the streets with balmy 40F weather promised for a few days.  This is unusal for me going almost a month without getting the bike out, a week to ten days is the usual lengthh of time missed.  My GS is really getting rusty from all the salt.
407,400 miles in 30 years for 13,580 miles/year average.  Started riding 7/21/84 and hung up helmet 8/31/14.

Hi,

The rain should stop sometime Saturday.  But this is what I did a couple weekends ago:

Click this picture for a little video:

A self-portrait:

More pics here.

My friend "Harley" Joe and I did over 400 miles that day through the California desert between Death Valley and Las Vegas.  There's a lot of crummy stuff to put up with in So. Cal., but at least I can ride most of the time.  Please don't hate me.   :D

Thank you for your indulgence,
