kk he got back mins after I replied.
got some MUCH better photos with his phone.

(edit)
rear tire is being replaced, so there was no need to tape it off

Also, that was the first time touching the red painted parts since I finished with the clear coat and hung them to cure.
Already Very shiny, but still didnt go over any with 2000 paper yet.

flash sucked

btw, that is the reflection of the wall in the tank, not a mess up in the paint.

Retro Red

everything was Duplicolor except for the clear coat & engine
which you have No idea how grateful I am for your suggestion on the Spraymax 2K.
Followed the few write ups on how to rattle can paint, 4 coats of clear and it looks GREAT!

these photos are better, but its still nowhere near as nice as in person.
especially with the metal flakes in it.
cant wait to see it in the sunlight.

(edit)
the closest photo of how nice it looks in person, is the helmet photo colored red in that link.
it really does come out looking That nice.

(edit again)
sorry, im Exhausted and about to go to bed so im half out of it.
all the black (minus the engine) was http://www.osh.com/eng/product/dupli_color_premium_enamel_gloss_black_12_oz_aerosol/6819031?gclid=CPTPtZ3t-awCFQjd4AodODANSw
^^ not where I bought it, just givin the first link that came up as the cans are downstairs and I couldnt recall Exactly which it was off hand.

Engine was done with http://www.amazon.com/Rust-Oleum-248903-Automotive-12-Ounce-Degree/dp/B003CT4AKC

(edit)
and hurray for a day of brain farts!
been looking up progressive springs and who has it the cheapest'ish, because I was thinking I HAD to buy them to put the front end on like the other parts im buying...
it didnt dawn on me until this morning even tho I looked over http://pantablo500.tripod.com/id2.html yesterday that its doable with the front end on... DUH!
at least now I'm not pressured to buy them along with my other items I need to purchase on Friday.
as I still have some xmas shopping to do.

Small update that I cant contain as its timing couldnt be more perfect!!  :thumb:

Dropped the clients off at school this morning and checked my mailbox.
We are getting a 40 hour bonus check for Xmas  :thumb:  :thumb:
Just got a 20 hour one for Thanksgiving 2 paychecks ago too!!

Been contemplating what I can put off for another 2 weeks (parts needed to put the front end on)
as I have bills to pay Friday and some xmas shopping to finish (which comes first)

but now, I can get everything I had planned on getting & more possibly  :thumb:  :thumb:
which would be: 15T front sprocket, new chain, steering stem bearing kit, new fork seals & oil, & progressive springs.

also getting http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=57028.0 but that $ is being sent out Friday morning regardless.

think I might try to squeeze in the exhaust I need so I can actually get it started and make sure I didnt mess anything up.

man that really looks fantastic! keep up the good work, this thing is going to POP when she's all back together.

on a side note- did you debate painting the stands? seems like a lot of wear on those parts for that pretty paint
if yer binders ain't squeakin, you ain't tweakin!

Tombstones81

It was a spurt of the moment choice.
I dont think I've EVER seen anyone have anything else but black stands.
So, I like things that are different.

Other then scrapes, im not worried about them.
The clear coat I used will hold up VERY well against anything that goes at it almost.
So I will just have to wash em up now and then.
& the sidestand wont scrape much except for the bottom, so I will just have to keep em clean.

and thanks!
hopefully I will have the front end on next weekend if the parts get here within a week from Friday.
Then I will be able to actually move it from the spot its sitting in now and take some Much better photos with my nephews Iphone.

Which still wont be as nice as it is in person or in sunlight (that im dieing to see it in!!)

^^ indeed  :thumb:

if its as nice looking in person as the photo, will def look better with my fresh paint and color.
because its fully clear and shows off the red pretty well.
yours is more foggy and simply went with My color less.

& actually I seen that pic of yours a Long time ago and wanted to get it.
so, thanks  :thumb:

and, just ordered a Kat 600 shock for $25 total, & a fuel filter.

want to buy the pegs now, but I will wait and let the smoke clear.
gotta hit the brakes on this spending spree! hahahaha

Will have plenty with my next paycheck as I already have 11.5 hrs OT just this week and should have another 8 to 10 hrs OT next week as well.

So in 2 weeks I'll finish with at least pegs, blinkers, grips, & a K&N open air filter.
Then get new plugs, oil and get her fired up and checked out.

(edit)
also almost forgot, gotta get stainless steel brake lines as well with those im ordering in 2 weeks. (probably red colored ones too)
pointless to put the stock ones back on and get fluid back in the lines if im just going to replace em.

(edit again)
also Just sent the $$ for my almost brand friggin new exhaust from Steezin  :thumb:

shes comin together :)

(edit)
yeah urs look like they have more red inside
these are the ones I almost got, more clear but I dont like the designs on them.
diff web page but with a pic http://www.amazon.com/Emgo-Clear-Taillight-Lenses-62-84770/dp/B000GU38OY

UPS & FedEx santas came today  :thumb:

Received my 15T sprocket, clutch cable, fork oil, Steering stem bearing kit, & new chain.
Also got a free Motorcycle superstore mousepad & some new stickers for my computer case since I dont want any on my bike.

Should be getting at least my fork seals and progressive springs tomorrow.

Will be finishing up the front end and installing it Thurs night if I can get it off, or else Friday night.
Should have my new fork brace by then too :)

Cant install the chain until I buy http://www.harborfreight.com/heavy-duty-chain-breaker-66488.html on the 30th as I have no rivet tool.
& yes that tool can be used for installation as well.

and hopefully have my new exhaust  soon after the 30th as I plan to get the oil and new plugs next pay and get her started again to make sure its all ok.

This is a great thread!  That duplicolor is rocking!  Very good job so far!  I really like reading all the details on what you're doing and planning.  The words just don't convey the HOURS and WORK you put into it though!  (Especially all that sanding, my God doesn't it seem like it never ends?!)  Can't wait to see more!!!   :bstar: :star: :bstar:

NO MORE SANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahaha
yes, by hand it was ALOT of work.

and thanks  :thumb:

will get better pics of the color when I am finished to the point where I am riding it again and take it out in the sun.

but actually, 2 more items off the top of my head to sand     >:(
my muffler and I am pretty hell bent on getting http://www.skidmarx.co.uk/product.php?id_product=30077 which will have to be redone to match the rest of the bike.

and UPS santa came today  again :)  :thumb:
FedEx should be here soon as well.

got my Fork Seals & Progressive springs.
Was smart with what site I bought those springs from.
only found one with tubing included to cut and insert in the tubes instead of having to go out and buy my own.
Just need to buy another $3 hacksaw from walmart hahaha

also, the larger bottom bearing piece of the steering stem was a &^%$# to get off last night!!!!
Just took a flat head screwdriver with a hammer and just kept at it.
didnt budge until the metal part of the screwdriver was literally pushed THROUGH the handle to the top! (its all I had to work with)
it came free tho once I was hitting the metal of the screwdriver with the hammer tho.

Now to get a tube to hammer the new one on evenly without breaking it.

Off for the next 5 days!  :woohoo:

Started on the front end finally.

New steering stem bearings finally installed thanks to my dad having the PERFECT pipe to hammer the lower bearings in with  :thumb:
Steering stem installed.

Got the new progressive springs in. (will add oil when front end is together)
cleaned up the lower fork tubes too.

Put the forks in and stopped there.

front end parts are a little out of order compared to other parts I bagged and tagged. (forgot about em when I got busy with the other stuff)

& im a little tired so I was easily confused.

stopped there for now until I sleep.
dont wanna mess anything up.

will get back to it tonight.

and hopefully get the new machined fork brace tomorrow as im only going to put everything on top and the headlight and wiring on until it arrives.

(edit)
forks set in place and tightened down.
triple tree on
front fender on by only 2 bolts to see how its going to look.
and the front rim finally on (had the most trouble with that due to a simple mistake)
I had the side cap on the opposite side, so I ended up putting the rotor on the wrong side too ><
after putting the rim on twice i kept sayin nahh this isnt right...
hahaha finally switched it around, tightened it up and time for a break for a few hours.

i'll get more of whatever I can get done later.

(edit)
handlebar placed back on but nothing else on it atm
front brakes hooked up (even tho I plan to get stainless steel lines, its not a MUST have asap)
headlight and wiring attached
gauges reattached.

ugh this front end is more confusing and a pain in the butt compared to pretty much Everything else for me!!

hope I get the fork brace tomorrow and my new exhaust no later then the 30th.
Freakin Dieing to get her running again!
also so I can make sure everything is 100%.

got plenty days off left so I called it a night.

also, have no choice but to get new blinkers now.
the front right blinkers wires got cut somehow right at the mounting point...
already had ones picked out tho, that will match my brake and clutch levers.

(edit)

Yea I liked the blue metal specks as well but blue had no place in that color scheme of mine haha

Reminds me tho, I "Might" go with the silver on the chain guard and lower fork tubes if I get bored and wanna do some work, but def. no time soon.

Still waiting on better pics...
Took them but my nephew is yet to send them to me from his phone.
