more pics!
this time during the day.

2 more things left to do to it.

First.
2 more blue LED strips to go above the rear wheel.

2nd.
Redo the seat fabric.

after that, the only thing I've been contemplating is replacing the rims with the stock gunmetal colored ones.

but thats not even considered for at least a few weeks to a month.

(edit)
or a cheaper route.

Just have the rims powder coated that matching Red.
I dont mind the red.
but I really like the gunmetal ones, just not sure how the color would mesh.

and the rims being spray painted, Wayyy too easily chipped.
which is why I wanna go one route or the other.

hell yeah cbr!  :thumb:

and even tho I posted it on the main site yesterday when I won it, will say it again.

Hell Yeah!  :woohoo:

Won a complete 96 Cylinder head assembly on ebay  :thumb:

$102.XX after shipping cost.

The most reliable motor to put it on is the 89.
Even tho the 89 head is perfectly fine now after replacing the exhaust valve.
It still needs some helicoiling (need another set other then the one I have)
Which another kit is around $50.

Also mixed up the cam shafts and mounts with my 94s accidentally.

The 94.....
Too many oil leaks, even tho I am pretty confident I know how to eliminate them.
Not going to even waste my time.

89 is already ready to go too, just have to put the head on it.

WAS contemplating selling it.
But I am just going to wrap it up and keep it as a spare engine. (gotta love that!)

Also got some extra money atm.
So I will be buying 2 more blue LED strips for somewhere above the rear wheel.
Already picked a spot out, but going to look for a less place prone to getting absolutely Filthy! hahaha

and I still have to buy a toggle switch and have a friend solder it all together too.

Which will probably be Tuesday.

Will get more pics uploaded of it and the engine when I get everything done  :thumb:

AND (i forgot AGAIN) the seat redone!

Just got finished soldering all the wires together on a toggle switch this time.
Along with 2 additional blue LED strips above the rear tire.

Lookin Sweet!

Will upload pics as soon as I go out and take them.

JUST sat down after getting done.

kk heres some more.
didnt have my keys on me so the only light is from the LEDs and sometimes the flash.

Dont see myself putting any in the front of the engine.
1. too hot.
2. wouldnt notice much with the headlight nearby.

I'll get some pics of the Strip placements tomorrow incase anyones thinking they wanna do the same.
but in all honesty, isnt very many other spots to put them! ahaha

Update!  :thumb:

Went and bought some Black Marine Vinyl to redo the seat.
sucker is going to look even better with some new fabric!

Also needed to get a can of copper gasket spray for the top end engine gaskets when I put the new head on my extra motor.
(Used it before and also using it right now with my current motor that had the head replaced as well)
never gave me a single problem!

Will take some pics if I get around to redoing the seat tonight or tomorrow.

Before, during, and after pics of course.

Also probably of the extra motor work I have to do as well just for the hell of it.  :thumb:

Finally got around to redoing the seat today.

Couldnt yesterday.
Whoever redid theirs with ONLY using staples... B R A V O !!!!!

my POS one just wouldnt punch the staples in enough or at all.

So I looked up a few videos since the only details I've read on here were staples only...

Spray on Glue after heating up the fabric in the dryer.
worked PERFECTLY!!!!

didnt even need to go crazy with the stapler to hold the bottom in place.

glue did enough of a job to do it for me.

I only put enough staples in the bottom to hold it until the glue dries.

Only got 3 pics as I was working with glue and didnt have time to stop and play with the camera....

before

old material off

and finished product!
came out PERFECTLY!!!!
Just waiting on the glue to dry and everything to settle now before i go crazy with the staples and then trim the excess.

raining.
so i cant get to the motor today.

Big Rich

Looks good Tomb!

A pneumatic staple gun is what upholstery shops usually use - not the general spring loaded one like what I have. Whenever I have to staple vinyl into plastic, I went over all the staples with a small ball peen hammer to make certain the staples were all the way in.

tnx.

Yeah the staples went in fine 90% of the time with the new gun.

Just got done pushing all the non flush staples in.

cut all the excess off earlier after going nuts with the staple gun.

shes all ready to go back on the bike and get pics taken tomorrow.

still 100% too  :thumb:

Update  :thumb:

Adjusted the carbs a bit to try and help with starving for fuel issue when coming to a stop.

Finally tossed the 140 main jets in from 145s and 3 turns out with 1 washer under the needle.
(Lunchbox with stock exhaust)

Cleaned up the LED wiring since I bought more zip ties.

Cleaned the bike up and tossed the new fabricated seat on  :thumb:

PatheticPuma

Just read through all 23 pages of this thread, and all I can say is well done sir. And IMHO I like the look of the silver engine better than the black. The forks/muffler accent it nicely...hope I can get mine looking that nice (assuming I ever find a tank)
If god intended us to drink beer, he would have given us stomachs.

tnx man  :thumb:

Sadly, I simply got sick and tired of the problems and bad luck.
Also with the lack of power being a big guy.

(and I cant believe I forgot to post it on this thread too)
I traded it back in like Aug. for an 87 Honda Super Magna.

Yeah I liked the silver engine too, until I had to replace the head (which was black) and had to repaint it.

Paint always looked good even if it was rattle can.
Bondo areas werent too sweet up close tho. (not good at smoothing it out Perfectly)

and it seems the motor I got kicked the bucket on the current owner
http://daytona.craigslist.org/mcy/3434285036.html

got 2 PMs from ppl asking if its my old one.

No idea how in the heck it went from Ct to Florida!
A more expensive bike I can see (shipping)
As far as riding it that far, I didnt even trust it to go from north east Pa to Pittsburgh Pa!

Someone probably ran it low on oil sometime as the sucker Ate oil like mad for some reason!
(current listing had engine problems and thats the only problem I had with it)

Also guess the person I traded with must have sold the extra motor I had separately.

Still miss the bike.
But simply WAYYYYYYY too many headaches.
(probably mostly my own mistakes as I was learning)
