That red is hot.  You're enthusiasm is inspiring too.  Rockin' thread you are posting up.  So great seeing it come together, no matter how long it takes.  Not that I'd know anything about taking too long to put something together.

not long enough imo.
that or I need another bike asap to work on! hahaha (if I had the $)
sometimes stressful but a bigger destresser and relaxer for me.
I just love workin on it.

and thanks  :thumb:

more work done  just a little while ago.

tryin to get this finished ASAP!!!
not for riding purposes, tho that is a plus.
but its a waste to be in a hurry only for that with this weather.
personal reasons is all I will say....

Got fresh brake fluid in the front & rear.
Got the chain on
New clutch cable on and adjusted.
Then the sprocket engine cover on for good.

New tail light will arrive tomorrow most likely, but I accidentally shipped it to my moms.
so I wont get that until Xmas.

Kat600 rear shock shows it still in Tx from the 19th......

Hoping for the fork brace tomorrow.

Then all I got left to do is buy new plugs, oil & filter, pegs, & blinkers next pay.
& hopefully get the new exhaust by then (30th)

and she will be good to go! (able to ride it if I choose to, & when I slow down on the purchase spree)
oh yeah, also put the new fork oil in.
and new covering for the seat when I get around to it.

kk 12 hrs later my nephew finally uploaded my pics from his phone. hahaha

gotta touch up the gas cap with some model paint or something (the black) but not clog up the vent.

and last, a close up of the paint on the tank

looks better now with the red chain on, clutch cable, & engine cover on tho.
but I just got done with that a half an hr ago.

also, the bike is actually VERY filthy atm.
only dust tho, a rinse with the hose when I finally get it out of the cellar will clean it off.

Enjoy  :thumb:

(edit)
and I still have to neaten up and zip tie all the wiring and hoses and $h!t in the front.

(edit 12/24)
Fork brace stracking shows its out for delivery :)
Good, once I get that.
I can then run the hoses and wiring on the front end all correctly, neaten and tie them up and be finished with the front end!
well except for blinkers & the blue high beam cap Weed sent me for Xmas that still need to be put on! hell yeah

(edit)
new fork brace arrived, WOW is this sucker thick in comparison to the stock one!!!

Now I got something to do for the parts of the day im sittin at home

thank you

Finally completely finished with everything I have so far.

Just put the new fork brace on & wow is that sucker thick side by side with the old one!!
Then the fuel filter.
and finished with new fork oil.

all that is left that I already bought but still waiting on is the exhaust, new taillight, & Kat600 shock.

Left to buy to be able to take it for a ride.
Plugs, Oil & Filter, Blinkers, Pegs, & Gas. (buying on the 30th)
Still need a new rear tire but current one is good enough for Short trips nearby to make sure everythings smooth.

after that, K&N open air filter and tools to do a valve check & shims if needed.

anything past that is non essential & will wait a little while so I can give my wallet a breather! HAHAHAHAHA
Unless I get bored and wanna work some more (highly likely!!) hahaha

(edit)
no more pics until the exhaust & new pegs & blinkers are on.
not much different to look at right now but a red chain & the side engine cover on.

(edit)
yeah, I think they came out pretty close as I assumed it was going to.
Tho I cant wait until mine is cleaned up fully as im not 100% crazy about it yet.
(mostly the lil bit of primer I still need to take off the front tire from forgetting to tape it off & replace the rear tire as its red walled now haha)

Adfalchius bike

mine, still lacking an exhaust, blinker, & pegs on that side.

(Custom seats are hot, like a hot broad wearing something sexy.)  Tombstone, do you think they'll mess up your paint, changing the rear tire?  Do you think the fork brace is a big deal over the stock?  Again looking fzantastic and never get enough of reading about projects coming together,....

If i was to take a new tire to be mounted at a shop, I would take just the rim as I have 2 times before.
First time I had to. (rear tire)
2nd time (front tire) I just wanted to learn how to take the front rim off.

but, I am going to order http://www.harborfreight.com/24-inch-general-purpose-tire-iron-93230.html and do it myself Very carefully.
because if its as simple as the videos i've watched... why should I pay a dealer $25 to $40 for something I can do myself??
never did it before but if I had to go around the edges with the tire iron and maybe go metal on metal, i'll put some cloth in between to protect the paint.

and the new fork brace I did not NEED.
but I was missing 2 out of 4 of the bolts that mount it to the forks, the 2 were also stripped.
inner 4 for the fender were I think starting to strip.
all from the previous owner.

so I did plan to replace the bolts but then I seen the thicker machined post and figure why not, its only $35 and probably alot better off.

and I doubt I will get a custom seat.
Def. going to cover it with fresh material.
decided to just go with a plain color.
just not sure if I want to go with black or try to match the red.
theres a fabric place 5 mins away tho :)

(edit)
also what I recalled earlier that MIGHT end up being really sweet for having a salvage yard 20 mins away.
When I do a valve check and most likely need shims, can just go there instead of brand new from a dealer or online.
and Hopefully be able to get them dirt cheap like others sometimes do with trading old ones in.

Gonna stop by omw home from work one of these days and ask, also see if they have the proper measuring gauges of ALL the sizes needed.

its iffy tho, some of their prices are crazy and some are pretty good deals.

Big Rich

I've changed more than enough tires to tell you: take it to a shop with those painted wheels. I've been really careful around painted wheels and always ended up with a scratch or two. Some tires are almost IMPOSSIBLE to mount without a hydraulic machine.

Then again, my local shop only charges about $12 to mount a tire, so that's my incentive as well.

tnx for the advice.
Since I never did one before and yeah, fresh paint job.
Will def call around for the cheapest then... err Cheaper then where I've been going.

First time was $25
2nd was $40.

im okay with $25.
but $40 is almost half the cost of the tire itself, which is pretty nuts imo.

amazing progress!! loving the whole project except, the painted to match wheels(never have been a fan of painted wheels), so i would choose to not go with the color matching seat. paint really came out great tho!

haha i hate that i'm holding up not only my project but yers as well!!

i'll have that sucker cut, wrapped, and shipped tomorrow!

headed out to pick it up & install what arrived today.

Pics of that later.

(edit)

Crappy update...

Bought the oil, filter, & plugs friday.
came home to my exhaust on the porch.
installed everything and went for gas.

cranked and BANG!

long story short, right exhaust valve broke because of a stuck bucket from human error, not mechanical failure.

new valve and pair of new buckets on the way :)

also new blinkers

That sucks out loud.Make sure you check that valve and lap it in as needed.Last thing you want is a leaky valve after all that work.  :thumb:

damn hate to hear that mang. you've made insane progress, don't let this discourage ya!!

if yer binders ain't squeakin, you ain't tweakin!

Tombstones81

yea I'll lap and check it properly.

and nah im not discouraged.
probably because I actually found what was wrong and easily got replacement parts otw.

what Does/will discourage me is taking the top part of the motor out while still in the frame :( or if I couldnt find the problem.

all good tho :)
im just giving it time before I go at it as I know the top part comin out is gonna suck, so i'm being patient so I go at it calmly.

and good news today  :thumb:

new helmet came in the mail!
matches the bike nicely (tho im yet to hold it next to it)

Never done head work with the engine in frame.Use painters tape to cover the frame to keep from scratching your fresh paint work.

This is my favorite thread right now on the forum.  Well except the one where adidas was pissed off and riled up but finally mister spun a few words and all was good again =classic.  But that thread is a running favorite.
