I just sold my GS as well and "upgraded" (I know that's a matter of opinion) to a '98 Buell Cyclone. Definitely a bittersweet moment after all the blood, sweat and tears we put into them. Enjoy the CBR!

I had a demo ride on a Cyclone at the Honda Hoot near Knoxville back on 01, about an hour mix of both freeway and back roads.  It was all torque and vibrated so much you could hardly see the turn signals at idle but smoothed out at 2k and ran smooth to 3k where the vibes picked up again, but it sure was sweet and powerful from 2-3k.  I'd call it an upgrade.  :thumb:  Made the trip on my 97 GS500 going over the Dragon and up the Blue Ridge Pkwy going home to NE Ohio following son JP on his GS1100E.
407,400 miles in 30 years for 13,580 miles/year average.  Started riding 7/21/84 and hung up helmet 8/31/14.

Jacob, here's a pic the day I picked her up. Since then I've performed a "fenderectomy" like I did on my GS. I had to tear the front rocker box apart to put in new gaskets, cleaned the carb and rejetted it (previous owner left stock jets in after adding K&N intake and Vance & Hines pipes- it barely ran the fuel mixture was so lean). Runs great now. Also adding bar end mirrors and the '99 top plate and dash so I can add the matching tach. Some ohter minor things I'll tinker with, but right now just enjoying the ride. Pure American muscle.  :icon_mrgreen:

Jack, yeah, she vibrates. Not THAT bad, but it is definitely a whole different animal than the GS (or any other Japanese bike for that matter). The biggest difference for me is the clutch and shifter. Takes much more strength/force to disengage the clutch- my left hand is getting quite the workout. But I've only had it a few days, so hopefully I'll adapt.

I was afraid the jump up in power would be too abrupt and scary (GS: 45HP/30FT-LBS compared to Cyclone: 85HP/80FT-LBS), but the Buell's power is pretty linear and very manageable. I was almost dissapointed, lol. Almost.  ;)

Man that is nice looking!! I was interested in the firebolts way back... All buells sound pretty amazing! The cbr is crazy.... 105rhp if it were completely stock lolol. I don't know what it is now. its pretty surprising every time. Gunna be taking it to the track soon.

Glad you are enjoying your new ride though!
