Well, it is official. Time to start another bike build.

This one will be custom painted in a University Washington purple/gold theme with Husky dogs (I wish it were cats!)

Tonight I met with the painter. He does custom painting of hydro boats, helmets, bikes, RC cars and more. Here is a link to his work:

https://www.facebook.com/WesesDesign/photos_stream
http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.394379783970895.90546.394367780638762&type=3

So with that meeting the project has officially begun.

Painting will start in 2 months. Until then, I have the daunting task of going through all my parts to gather up everything needed for a bike. It will have a TCP "E" fairing. Member Piresito is collecting parts from German sellers and will ship them to me. Most of what he is collecting will go on this bike.

After painting, it will be 4 to 6 weeks to assemble the bike.
And everything will be painted:
* Frame
* Wheels
* "E" cowling
* Tank
* Gimbel rear solo seat
* Airbrush's Rear Hugger
* SS Chain guard
* Gauge bracket
* Euro type-1 handle bars

As this will be a show bike, I will need every part in pristine condition. However, Wes said he never gets to see his work on the street (he does show bikes) and really wants me to NOT hide it like a show piece. I assured him that Husky will be ridden often so everyone can admire his work. She will be babied, but I will ride her often.

I think this will be the most expensive GS500 ever built. Definitely the most unique, most beautiful GS500 ever. The painting alone will be the price of a GS500. add Gimbel seat,  Gimbel rear sets, a rare TCP fairing shipped from Europe and, well, you get the idea.

Updates will come as I gather parts. I'll be making a list of what it takes to build a GS500. I need a check list! Along with this I'll be assembling a "junker" just for the purpose of testing engines and carbs. So really, I'll be putting together 2 or 3 GS500's this year.

I wanted to announce the start of this project. That makes it official.  :woohoo:

Ordered the Gimbel rear sets and seat. Seat is "best offer" so I got a discount.
Waiting on the EX500 before ordering brake light and turn signal lenses. I plan to order for that bike at the same time and save on shipping. Slim chance the EX500 engine is bad, but still will wait a couple days to find out so I don't order stuff for a bike  that will be parted out.

Motad muffler ordered today.
I like it on Phenix. I do not like loud mufflers - which seem to be he only after market mufflers available here in the USA. Before ordering I asked about a price for 2 of them: one for Husky and one for the EX500 (to replace a LOUD mussy exhaust). Seems I'm getting 2 without VAT for not much more than the price for one at ebay prices. It never hurts to ask for a better price.

Parts came in today! Some much needed parts for the fairing and stuff for other projects.
Fairing panel and wind shield for "E" fairing.
Rare TCP/FiveStars headlight cowling
Red/Pink tail to match other side (NOS) and tank(NOS) this part is almost NOS.
Couple needed fairing inner pieces.
Euro type 1 clip on set

Thanks to Piresito for sending them to me. Some sellers will not ship to the USA. He took care of that! Kudos and a big bag of Karma Korn

The MYSTERY Box from Portugal!

Ooooooh! parts! (Clip-ons from someone else, but came today.)

All parts are now in hand (as of last week). Full "E" fairing and all plastics.
Next step is to remove decals from some of them so they are ready for painting.
Also have to clean the frame.
Wheels are clean - new old stock so they are ready to go.

Still got my eye on this build, its going to be killer!

I'm getting jealous of all these E fairings!!! How much for an east coast parts whore to snatch one from you west coasters?

We only have 5 of them. Not sure if there is a spare  :flipoff: :flipoff: :flipoff:
You're a parts whore and you're closer to Germany - can't you just drive over and get one? Google maps had drive to NYC, swim the ocean and continue on in France.

(Well, maybe. But it would be one that needs to be re-painted.)
