Stole my color scheme! Oh well, I'll just tweak it a bit. Keep it up!

Also, what exhausts do you have? My header pipes are getting ugly and need to get some new.

Usual Sat & Sun: about 10 Sat and 10:30 Sun (after Farmer's Market)
Evenings will  be like 8:30 to midnight.
Friday MIGHT start after work at about 6 or 6:30.

Your forks ok now? I assume the front brake is settling in. Exhaust now sound better?

It is amazing the pile of "B" quality parts accumulating. as we upgrade everyone's bikes, the "B" parts are piling up. and I guess I'm getting really picky about parts for the bike builds. On ebay now buying some 2009 parts because everything for the Husky bike must be absolutely perfect. and un-named bike #2 I'm just gettig picky and take too much pride in the builds to use "B' quality parts. Though they are all usable, not good enough for me.

Must be 3 exhausts or 4. Fork tubes (maybe we can straighten the ones with 1/8" bend), brake calipers and other stuff.

okay that sounds good. Front fork seals are good now. not a single drop of oil. the front disc still make a slight sound when in motion. i thought i had aligned them perfectly but in retrospect i should have known it would not be perfect because they are diff parts than the original bike. I will wait out the sound to disappear one day. i have not seen in degradation on the disc brakes, rotor in the mean time.

Your brakes will wear in in a week or two of riding. With different forks, the pads are not touching the rotor exactly as before. Remember there is nothing to separate the pads. We don't have return springs. Pads will always be slightly touching the rotor

Remember when the brake is off and the brake lever gets touched? The pads go in but they don't go back out without a lot of effort. Remember the effort to spread the pads to get them back on? That's because nothing separates them.

So just be patient. Your brakes are fine and the rubbing will diminish as the pads wear to their new position on the rotor.

Glad the new forks are good.

A little progress on bike #2 tonight. Foot pegs, side stand and rear brake.
We will bleed the brakes when the front is on tomorrow. Now that handle bars are on, there is a place to mount  the front brake.

Brian came over for a while and we made some good progress.
Wiring harness starts going on tomorrow. Looks like full power will be on at the end of Friday's wrench session.
Not sure, but if a few came over Saturday and we busted our butts, this bike could be on the road Saturday evening.

Yep - it is going to get a FiveStars rear carrier.

I know someone who would kill me if i spent that much on a single lever. I'll wait until she buy's something really over price and then order my levers after  :thumb:

I'm even considering the  rear carrier, i cant carry anything under the seat (falls out). Nice builds, will be following the progress.

Our first build is here:
http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=57258.msg693317#msg693317

That bike "Phenix" has been on the road since April 2012.

We need a name for this latest build. One suggestion was "Frank" because it is a Frankenstein bike (like Phenix) make up from parts of lots of bikes and covering 1989-2012.

One minor setback: I may not have a good front master cylinder. One doesn't pump (might just be full of crud). One is stuck and the 3rd at the moment is unknown, but not very pretty. I have more ordered. I'm hoping one of the guys can take them and make one that works (until the 2009 used ones come in) so the bike is ride-able should we get the motor in come Saturday.

New bikes don't look exactly like what we build. We make them better! Even Suzi has had some serious upgrades from stock.

You can build one!

Or do a serious make-over. Look at Junior: total make-over. 2 other notable make-overs are Audry (sold to BrianRC and formerly called Quin) and Dora (sold to Nortwestrider and formerly known as Trey)

After we build these 2 bikes you'll be an expert - ready to assemble your own bike. Easier than assembling an Ikea entertainment center!

Well, I have decisions to make.

Wednesday is Backfire Moto. It would be great to ride Frank there and have pictures and info showing that Frank was put together in under a week.

Then, I got shipping notice on the pressure switch banjo bolt for the rear brake, new front master cylinders and some other parts.

So it is a choice of get on the road if possible and be running to take him to Backfire Moto, or take it easy and NOT take to Backfire Moto. because if I take it easy, I won't have to re-bleed the brakes after changing to new banjo switch and newer front MS. Though re-bleeding brakes is no big deal. I have a new set of tail plastic coming in, too.

Oh, well. I'll just have to see how things go this weekend. Tonight I'll start stringing the wiring harness and put power on it to be sure it is a good one.

c'mon Addy!!... go hard old chap!!.... every 'build' show on tv they are always 'down to the wire' before reveal... then its high fives and cheers all round! ... Just Do It!! ...  :icon_twisted: ;) :thumb:

Got some wiring on: side stand switch, assorted cable and wire brackets. Started stringing the wiring harness.

Tested one master cylinder. Seems it may have been lazy. I put my finger over the banjo bolt hole. Pumped and could feel air pressure. The fluid squirted out all over me. I think it will work. Clean brake fluid and it should be good.

So Friday night the sole task is get all wiring and electrical finished so Saturday can be devoted exclusively to the motor.

BrianRC

Was thinking about coming over tomorrow and doing some engine cleaning during the day, which one did you want to use?

adidasguy

Plan is for the 2006 engine with the splashes of green monster paint and the oil cooler.
I should have electrical finished tonight.

adidasguy

Spare fairing parts came in today. These will be used as spares for the other sets of "E" fairings I have.
Funny - the "fragile" tape is upside down!
